Ilia is my go to, it’s tinted but layers amazingly and it’s mineral based so it doesn’t get that chemically taste in your mouth. It has the most shades of any company I’ve found.
You have the order right - it’s lightest to heaviest - toner, serums, moisturizer, sunscreen (and for serums, whatever start with the lightest to thickest serum).
Saw this on IG and had to save it!
Always go with the most “watery” product first and ending with the “creamiest” product. This is my order: Actives/chemical exfoliants (AHA/BHA), toner (to soothe), serums (Vitamin C), snail mucin (CosRX), moisturizer, sunscreen, then primer/makeup.
It definitely makes sense when you think about it: A liquid toner or gel/serum won’t be able to penetrate the skin on top of a lotion.
Also, make sure you allow enough time (if possible) for the products to absorb and always apply any product with hyaluronic acid on wet skin since it absorbs better (I keep a mister nearby.).
Lastly, try double cleansing with an oil-based cleanser (to remove makeup), followed by a water-based one in the evenings.
SokoGlam has a nice guide if you’re interested in expanding your routine and it became a nice method of self-care for me, especially during the height of the pandemmy: https://sokoglam.com/pages/the-korean-skin-care-routine.
Night
Agree with the advice above about the skin care routine.
For sunscreen, I use Biossance Squalene and Zinc mineral sunscreen in the winter, it has low spf, and I can skip the moisturizer with it as it leaves the skin very hydrated.
In the summer, I used Tatcha Silk mineral SPF 50++ (when I don't want to use moisturizer) and Aveno 60 or 70. Apparently, Elta MD is really good, but I haven't tried it yet.
None of them leave a white cast for me 5 mins after the applications. Also like using Coola spray sunscreen for reapplication every 60-120 mins when I'm out and about.
