What is the best way / needed talent to move up?

Do that position before you get there. Be a mentor to more junior creatives. Act like a leader. Be looked at as a person of knowledge, reliance, expertise, and influence. Do shit without being asked to. Fill gaps. You won’t get a role because it exists, but you’ll get promoted bec you’ve shown you’ve outgrown your current role and already stepping up to X. Good luck!

Demonstrate initiative by developing a plan for how you’ll earn the title. Research job descriptions for the role you want - LinkedIn is a great resource - and identify themes in terms of qualifications. Then document where you’re qualified and what you need to work on. Write up a detailed timeline of how you plan to develop yourself over the next 6-12 months and take that to your ECD to ground your discussion on an upward trajectory. Demonstrating initiative, planning and humility will earn you respect and support. Coming in demanding a title without the appropriate accomplishments can cause leadership to view you as entitled. Not to say that would be your course of action, but just a watch out from someone in management.

I am a field marketer. I travel and cover 12 states. HQ is across the US on the east coast. My manager put a surprise calendar invite twice now to go to home office without consulting dates to see if we were available. I stood up and asked to be included on available dates and said I will attend virtually but asking me to be away for 4 additional full days away from my family without asking me is not OK. I already travel a lot and this boundary is super important to me. Am I right or wrong?

Is this normal...?

My AD and I are a team, joint website, CV, LinkedIn...you name it. We’ve been approached by a talent partner from a big agency for a team opportunity there. After deciding to hear more about the opportunity and going through the first interview with the CDs, they get back to us anbout only looking to hire one of us, with a follow up e-mail to the personal inbox (not the team’s joint one).

Why go through the trouble in using the team contacts if you only wanted one of us?
