What is the best way out of audit and into forensics? I’m pretty sure it’s not going to happen for me at PwC and I need to make this switch before I get promoted to manager next year.

Your network. Who do you know that is close to someone in a forensic practice? Do you have questions about what type of work is done in forensics? I would just start reaching out to people you know that have contacts or just start emailing forensic partners in your area to have conversations about their practice and “learn more about opportunities in the market”.
You are already positioned well because of your strong background in audit. The next piece will be can you work well with unstructured problems/projects. If you can sell your ability to use your current skills in this environment I would see you as a no-brainer for someone in Forensics.

Following - I’m at a firm that does zero forensics work and doesn’t seem open to grow the line

Why do u think it won’t happen for u at PwC? I think a more likely scenario is that you are able to transfer, but it delays being promoted to manager

I do not expect or want help from anyone, but I also don’t want people trying to stop me either. Partners in my group have stopped people from transferring over the last few years.

I was in the same boat at PwC. You should consider switching to another firm. I went non big 4 and don’t regret it at all.

I did. I experienced the same thing - I asked multiple times to even do a rotation and people kept tell me they were “working on it” and then I would find out the only thing they were working was staffing me on the same 2 engagements they promised to switch me off. I would find a contact in forensics and could never get a response for my emails and calls. I like the culture at regional a lot more than big 4. Still the same very smart and capable people, but they actually value you and what you want from your career. Big 4 will try to tell you this isn’t true, but you will always be just a number to them.

Do any of you make more than your male partner? My boyfriend and I have been together about 8 months, and we haven't talked about money, but I have a feeling that I make about 30K more than him (we are the same age). He's a graphic designer for a small medical company, and just the way he has talked about his most recent raise and stuff makes me think that he makes so much less than me. How do you deal with this? I have had multiple guys leave me in the past because I make like 7K more...

Just got promoted to audit senior, but can’t imagine doing another busy season. I have some forensics internship experience from college and always wanted to pivot to forensics. It sounds like the firm is working mostly on COVID stuff these days, but I’m more interested in doing investigations work. If I transfer and have no choice but to work on insurance/claims, would it be better to stay in auditing? Is the insurance/claims work demanding/difficult intellectually wise?
