Going to the Maldives in 2 weeks! Mantra here is to use points where you can instead if shelling out cash for expensive packages - if you can plan in advance, get a Marriott credit card and use points- if you're going with somebody have them get it too so you can bank enough points. We redeemed about 350k in points for Westin Maldives beach villa - hoping to get an upgrade to OVW. The Westin is new and has great reviews and the menu prices are very reasonable ($25-$30 entrees, $12 glass of wine). If you can pick up a titanium elite status then breakfast is included. Still a lot for Asia but it's sort of affordable and one of the reasons we picked it over St Regis where food and drinks are ridiculously priced. Activities are also well priced at about $60-$100 for snorkeling excursions at the Westin. Flights, we used United miles. Not the greatest flights but not the worst. Unfortunately you have to shell out your own $$ for the seaplane transfers ($550 per person RT). You should budget ~3k for 2 people for a week minimum. If you don't have points or hotel loyalty points it's definitely a ~10k+ trip.

Following - likely going next year!

All the resorts in Maldives gives packages that doesn't include flights. Where will you be flying from? Because most of the resorts are far away from Male airport and each resort will take care of their own transfer from Male to resort.

Yes, we used trip advisor to read the reviews and got the deals on the resort website directly.

Use points for flights and hotels. You’ll end up spending $1000 a day for food and wine where ever you stay. Try to get their and stay for free. I have been twice. Most places offer board packages (breakfast/dinner) but it is still expensive AF. Picture is from the park Hyatt

C1 glad they were able to do that. Might not have done the speciality dinners on the beach that are offered or some of the more pricey wines. Bottom line is be prepared to spend a lot on food and beverage. You should be able to find menus easily online and budget accordingly

Need gift ideas! I’ve been crashing at two of my good friend’s place for the past month and a half and I want to get something to thank them for letting me stay/holiday gift. Budget probably in the $100–150 range combined for both of them. They are both pretty outdoorsy 24 year olds so I was thinking something along those lines but can’t think of anything. All I have so far is a nice bottle of scotch. Please help!

Kind of aggravated with the example male leadership is setting right now with regard to parenting at CV. At least 5 men in leadership have had new babies in the last month and it seems like some have taken no time off or only the bare minimum. We have 12 weeks and should be encouraged to use it! If leadership isn’t taking advantage of their own policy, what does that say to the rest of the staff? In my perspective, this is likely further contributing to the gender disparity in CV leadership
