What is the best way to select a developer or agency? Submitted a project on upwork and got tons of proposals. Would love some advice on the recommended way to qualify them. Everyone seems to have very similar estimation, experience and a great deal of projects done in portfolio.

Some advices... 1. Before you start interviewing devs or agencies, maybe best to ask a friend that has experience to give you some background/context on what needs to be done etc. Try to match what your friend told you to what they are offering. 2. You get what you pay for, stay away from any dev/agency that claims to be the 'lowest cost' etc. 3. Try to interview the dev/agency via video, get an understanding of how well do they communicate etc. If you have trouble understanding or communicating during the video call you might have trouble talking via emails.

We have been communicating over Upwork via messages. Overall their approaches are consistent with what I was told. Cost varies. Hours are consistent.

Upwork and similar platforms have like a going rate for most common projects. I recently interviewed content writers and content planners, and some of them expressed their frustration in competing with others on Upwork. One even said it was "shady". It was *very* time consuming to interview writers, but I actually landed on solid candidates and was able to pick them apart from really terrible ones with cheaper rates. Maybe look for a smaller / local marketing/comms agency to take on the project? They will have to put in the time to find the right people instead of you, and they'll be accountable for their work. (That was my approach in looking for writers for my client's content production).

You can test a couple of them by giving them a small project and see who is better.Other option can be to hire someone to evaluate these proposals.

I was diagnosed with mild ADHD, and partially why I went into project management is that I wanted to challenge myself for long term initiatives. Although I’m learning amazing things, I still need a lot of support at times. In addition, multi term or year projects give me anxiety, along with a number of personal obligations (I take care of my mom). My projects include well known ERP vendors, but I am unsure if I should continue targeting long term tasks. I’m waiting on meds to see how it helps.

Tonight Meghan said that she was concerned that “the first member of color in this family isn’t being titled in the same way as other grandchildren would be”. This was really disingenuous because none of the other great grand kids except William’s (for good reason) have titles either, so why would Archie be given one? This is why I feel like this interview was somewhat staged and that M&H are not exactly the most trustworthy.
