What is the biggest drawback of leaving the classroom to become an administator? I'm thinking of finally using my admin license.

The lack of positive student interaction.

That's a good one!

I’ve had my Admin Cred since 2007. What keeps me from moving forward is that I would be leaving the kids. I went into Ed to work with kids. Not to kiss someone’s ass. If I wanted to kiss someone’s ass, I would have followed a career in big business and made real money. I am happy making shit money working with kids who appreciate my knowledge and learning from me.

Listening to everyone and their mother's problems. In your classroom at least you know there are boundaries within your class. As an admin your problems are much bigger and your boundaries much wider!

Forgetting what it felt like to be a teacher!

How do I promote collaboration beyond my classroom? It sounds easier said than done.

This school year has been very challenging to me. I’m a instructional aide,one-on-one, in a general education classroom. Teacher has never really made conversation with me, sometimes I force a ‘good morning ‘ from her. Her silence around me just makes me uncomfortable and not welcomed in her classroom. She has made comments towards my student, saying that he doesn’t need an aide, or that students don’t need ‘babysitter’s at school’. Has any aide experience this in classroom?

What did you study in college? Do you feel like it truly helped prepare you for the classroom or have you learned most through the experience itself?

The EGMP IIMC programme offered ..wanted to know the industry/market worth of this program... It's priced at 2-3 lacs which is reimbursible by Deloitte with 1 year bond...but what I researched it's a certificate course merely and you hardly get any classroom peer interaction which is the essence of any executive MBA program..wanted to know what other fishes think of the true value specially someone who completed and whether he got ROI in terms of career progression or salary increase....

I’m a longer term sub, and had my own classroom from Jan. until the end of this school year, due to the teacher moving out of state. I was told I was not getting paid because I am a sub..what can I do

I’m thinking about moving up to a high school English position from 8th grade English. Mainly I’m looking for a change. Any thoughts on the differences I’d be facing?

I have high school children of my own, but disciplining high schoolers has always intimidated me for some reason. I have excellent classroom management, but I feel like high schoolers are a little smarter ab getting around rules and less worried about consequences.

I’m told by an hs tchr that the grading load is ab the same.

I run an ED (emotional disturbance) program in the high school I work in. I was shown my classroom and that was it. Told to create the program however I want. I do not want it to turn into a study hall (all students on my caseload are at least 80% in with Gen Ed population). And I want to try and get away from point sheets. Any ideas/resources anyone would like to share?

Feeling like there’s not a specific group for us Econ teachers? Well, now there is! Please feel free to use this to discuss experiences in your classroom and/or share/ask questions for future ideas :)

What is the most useful tool in your classroom?

It’s not just banning novels, it’s math textbooks that are banned too. And now it’s social/emotional learning 🤦🏻‍♀️

“Social and emotional learning” has been attacked by conservatives. Quoted in the New York Times, Chris Rufo, senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, linked social-emotional learning to a wider discussion of race, gender and sexuality teaching in classrooms, and called it “a delivery mechanism for radical pedagogies such as critical race theory and gender deconstructionism”.

I feel like my classroom is really small. It’s an interior room, so there are no windows, which doesn’t help. I’m looking for suggestions that make my room feel larger and brighter. Thanks!

I’m very into indian arts culture and myself learned classical dance forms (3), Carnatic singing, and violin, but I am interested to hear about some more arts you all might be engaging in as hobbies or passions. I really like to work with my hands to create something. Right now I’m working on a project to learn interior design using high end, business professional desi design patterns in my apt. What are some other nice arts culture hobbies inspired by India?

Anyone in the Bay Area looking for a mid to Sr level AD

Living in mcol city on east coast, wondering what salary expectation to have. Graduated 2009 so I think my job/income prospects back then negatively warped my view of what current market rate is.

I have CFA charter, almost 7 years experience perf attribution and fixed income analytics. Make 84k plus ~6k bonus. Want to move to more of an equity research role. Okay w taking a Jr role as I imagine salary is not much different, but don't know. Seems they prefer new grads, so a 36 YO may not fit
