Not consulting but I know someone who spent ~$10K on strippers and hookers to win a client. Had to fight with the CFO to get reimbursed, and ended up getting it reimbursed.

Nuclear plant equipment manufacturer.

One dude bought an apartment, rented it to himself on AirBnb at the maximum rate allowed by ACN and expensed it. This was a small city, only one good hotel that EY was always hogging, so we were allowed to use AirBnb. Over a 2+ year project he basically got a free apartment .

I heard of an SM that put a car on her card right before she left the firm... Needless to say they noticed and she had to pay it back. Definitely a Driver-Pioneer.

A subcontractor bought refundable flights, expensed those, cancelled them, and bought cheaper non-refundable fares. When our manager discovered this we audited all his expenses, and found he had expenses from weekends while he was working from home. He claimed he was entitled to expense meals while working, even while working remote (narrator: he wasn’t). We looked at the receipts and they included trips to Wal-Mart, and some of the expensed items were sporting goods.

I'm switching jobs and considering whether I want to roll over my 401(k). I have about $220k in my plan. Considering rolling it into an existing Fidelity IRA with a balance of about $50k. Since October of 2020, I've paid about $880 in "plan administrative fees" to my 401(k) provider as well as the fund expense ratios. It looks like Fidelity does not charge administrative fees on IRA accounts, so that seems to make it a no brainer, plus the investment options are much broader. What am I missing?

Previous firm culture was all about the people, new firm is all about being the best... I knew the stereotype here was about being *the best*, but didn’t realize that people who buy into firm culture/values just repeatedly talk about how “we’re the best,” and, “we work REALLY hard bc we’re the best!!” I’m trying to commit, but end every internal call where I hear these words feeling like 🥴😶🙄. At least at the old firm there were relationships to back up the people piece and make it relatable.
