I had a patient come in once who was pregnant and complained about how she was craving dirt. To eat. I'd heard about it but it was the first time I'd actually encountered it in real life. Can't imagine looking at a pile of dirt and feeling hungry.
I had an elderly male patient, whom I had only met once, tell me that he had sex dreams about me. I'm a middle age, slightly overweight, bland looking female. I had done nothing in the last bit provocative. I was literally speechless, and then pretended I heard nothing, wrapped it up, and let him go.
Uhmmmm, ew ew ew ew ew ew ew. I'm sure you are a lovely person, but what a massive creep. The number of times I've caught patients (or patient's husbands 👀) looking at my butt is just gross.
I started my career in the county hospital, inpatient psychiatric unit. Please specify the crazy you wish to hear about 🙃 I met “Jesus” and “Santa” multiple times, had a guy come in with a baggie full of wires he swore he cut out of his arm, had a gal with a history in life eerily similar to my own and she just seemed to have had a reeeeeaaaalllly bad week that put her over the edge (she actually f/u with OP assistance and is doing well I’m told), had a guy throw me like a rag doll once (he apologized immediately, long story), had a doctor I worked with that should have been a pt (longer story), and the families were all wayyy worse than the pts. 😬
