What is the general % jump in public between staff and senior? Is it more case by case or is it pretty standard?

At PwC it depends largely on how well rated you were as an associate as there are certain ranges they pay each group (associate, senior, manager, etc). If you were rated well as an associate, then you would be closer to the high end of the associate range which would mean a lesser jump to the senior range. In my experience my senior bump was less than some of my associate raises.

10-15%, usually pretty standard

Depends. On you, on politics, on how well the firm did, etc. Mine was almost 20%

I got 30% bump

It’s more like a standard level salary and they bump you from your current salary to get the $ amount regardless of the % increase

11%, and I moved up a tier

Mine was 13%

As a job seeker, what would be the benefits of taking a 12 month contract with no "contract-to-hire" statement in the listing over a salary or contract-to-hire position? I'm currently questioning if I should look for other opportunities, but potentially giving up my 401k, health insurance, and other benefits is nerve-racking, especially as a head of a household of four. Would it be beneficial to start a LLC or something if I were to go this route? I've only held salary positions in tech.

is it just me or is the SPAC/IPO growth making everyone in PA miserable? seems like regular engagement teams are being thinned out cuz many people are getting “great learning opportunities” from these SPACs. covid has also accelerated the number of people quitting so every team is becoming understaffed. revenue is booming for PA, but i feel like no one is caring about physical/mental health and i think it’s a huge issue. these mental health awareness emails we get are pointless imo.

Considering leaving public accounting after 8.5 years. Have been a manager for 3.5 years (haven’t updated fishbowl) and feel like it’s now or never. I am finding that its difficult to find a job with much of a pay increase since I lack any experience working in house. Contemplating if it is worth it in the long run moving to controller/ accounting manager of a company for even salary or pay cut in order to get that experience. Appreciate any insight
