What is the internal partner promotion to external hire ratio at your firm? (And similar ratio at public firms for PPMD or partner equivalent )

Does anyone have insight on the promotion structure at Deloitte? If you come in with 3 years audit experience would it be 2 more years to make manager? Or is it basically 3 years to make manager no matter what

VC folks - do you get annual salary bumps or just upon new fund + promotion?

Was just told my HOP is leaving in 3 weeks and they’d like me to takeover. Medium sized agency with a range of clients big and small. 20+ person dept. Wondering what percent raise I might get and/or negotiate?

Big4 MD vs a non Big 4 (GT/RSM) or Boutique (CFGI/A&M) Partner. Any thoughts on which is a better path for longer term compensation and leadership opportunities. For context, am a high performing MD - been in top 5 PPMD by book of business in my practice for last 5 years and endlessly waiting to for a Partner promotion. So thinking to move on and try non-Big 4’s.

I know labor unions are not allowed but if we collectively raise our voice and ask for better compensations and/or work life balance will it really make a difference. I know talent surveys happen but find it falling on deaf ears.
Deep down I really want Deloitte to come out of this mess they have created starting 2020.

When do you tell your employer that you're pregnant? I'm in public accounting and my due date is 4/4/2023.
We have an informal process of mid-year promotion that those who get promoted would be notified at the end of December.
I don't know if I would get a promotion but I'm definitely hoping for one. Main concern is if I disclose that I'm pregnant, I would be passed on the promotion potentially. I know they're not supposed to but we all know what reality is.

Should I ask for promotion after working in Tax for 5 months? I had a 5k sign on bonus, with a ok start up salary. We had some changes in management recently, and I had to step up to train new employees and showing new hires how to utilize our system and softwares. Even had to show our new manager how to do things cuz she came from non PA company. Patent litigators - how many hours a week do you work to stay on track with your billable hours req? Lost a high performing SM to an industry job earlier this month. They were on track to becoming a Partner in 2022 but still decided to take an industry job which pays $400K. I tried to explain that they would make $600K as a first year partner and the income can go up to $1M in next 5-6 years. They still refused to stay in consulting because they think that becoming a Partner is just the beginning of the rat race and did not want to deal with sales/revenue targets for the next 20 years 😔😔

Partners: would you mind sharing your “gross” salary progression through the years? Heard from one EY partner that he was Year 1 = 400, Year 2 = 500, Year 3 = 600, Year 4 = 750, Year 5 = 1M. Wondering how accurate is it? I am sure the above numbers would require upward inflation adjustment to be applicable today.

If applicable, what have you done to overcome anxiety when presenting? Bonus points if you have tips for introducing yourself to a quiet room (a frequent stumbling block for me)

When equity partners switch firms and say they’re “bringing my book of business”, what does that actually entail? Are they voiding current contracts and having the client sign a new one with the partner’s new firm? What happens to existing projects the partner is in charge of then leaves?
