As a public h.s. teacher, I see how the k-12 education system breeds the wrong mindset for students to reach their highest potential. They're taught to memorize facts to take a test and the carrot on the stick is their grade- which is an extrinsic motivator. They chase the "A" and will cheat at any moment to get it.
