My issue is less with the fact that the word “luscious” is pretty binary. The drizzle is either luscious or it isn’t. My issue is the “a little more” part. So, it’s luscious right now. Thoughts on “special” salary grades. I just found out the VP I was offered is not a grade 12 like most comparable roles (verified). Also not an 11, but an 11A. Slightly higher than an 11, a good bit lower than a 12. All due to the fact that it’s a leap from my current position. Why should that matter…..shouldn’t it pay what it should pay if I am selected, rather that curving down towards my current rate?

I'm trying to suss out if a new member of our dept hates me or my team (she manages a different team).

My initial take is she's just hard to read and probably a tightly controlled introvert. My direct report felt she's 'cold as ice,' 'bristling' at our suggestions, and forming a clique that wants to do their own thing with no input from our team. He's triggered very easily, and there was no explicit evidence, just a 'vibe' so I wrote it off. (See 1st comment)

Covered a managers meeting for her yesterday, was with some senior members of the marketing team. A director opens the call with “we are so sorry about the impacts the layoffs have had on your teams today…” then noticed I was in the call and said “we are still notifying others so best to keep it under the radar” …25% of my team was let go three hours later with no warning😬
