What is the most effective way of becoming more detail oriented? I continuously make the same small mistakes and want to kick these habits ASAP. Any suggestions?

If they are the same mistakes, perhaps a checklist?

Also, develop a habit of proofreading everything and (when it’s really important) trading proofing favors with others. It’s hard to see your own typos

Print it out and read through it. You’d be surprised how much you catch when looking at a paper copy. (I’m aware this is not the green option, and I don’t care)

Yes! I second this, helps focus your mind (not on chat, and the computer w email blasting away) and helps me catch errors.

Read it out loud. That’s how I catch my mistakes.

Had the same problem, print your work and review this then send. Much more effective

what kind of mistakes are they?

At the risk of over simplifying: re-read everything, which means you have given yourself enough time to review slowly. All my small errors are because I rush. I would be less concerned about emails than deliverables.

On the same boat, challenging for me

Has anyone tried daily drills at all?

If you want to be an accurate typer, I love those silly typing games, like TypeRacer or Typer Shark

Grammarly

Try it out. It’s worth paying your own $ for. It will catch your mistakes (missing words, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, etc). It is waaaay better than the built in Microsoft tools.

I don’t send out communications without running it through (plugs into all MS apps)

A second set of “clear” eyes will catch typos, missing words, etc. If you’re making grammatical errors, find someone who’s a really good writer to do that proofreading. Even professional writers have editors.

Peer review is everything!

Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does.
