What types of projects/solutions does Oliver Wyman Life Sciences Consulting (post acquisition of Huron’s practice) practice offer? How do they compare (project types, WLB,etc.) to LS consulting at firms like L.E.K. Consulting, ClearView Healthcare Partners, ZS Associates etc.?
Looking to make a transition from compensation/human capital strategy consulting to LS consulting. Have an undergraduate degree in Biology, Finance, and Econ and 1.5 YOE in consulting. Any advice much appreciated!

Can a Deloitte MD make north of 500k ?
Is a MBA worth it? 17 years into my career.
I think my top three are PTO, Healthcare, and 401K. But that’s probably cause I work at EY and I make $14 dollar bonuses yearly
^ you get $14, I must be doing something wrong
Bonus is a huge portion of my comp - has been 22-31% of base salary for past 3 years. Healthcare for the family, PTO for the family, pension. Everything else are promotional gimmicks.
Accenture’s 401k match is fantastic. Up to 6%, 100% vested after just one year.
Bonus, 401k, Healthcare, PTO in that order. Rest is nice but not essential.
401k marching/vesting tends to be the next one I look at. Then PTO, then healthcare. Realistically, I should look at healthcare first, but since it’s hard to compare plans with what the recruiters give you, it’s easier to start with 401k and PTO which are easy to quantify.
Bonus, healthcare, PTO
1. PTO (because I want to live my life damnit)
2. 401k (because it's the one area my company's benefits really shine and it's hard to imagine giving that up)
3. bonus (because it sounds nice but has never been an option so anything is better than the status quo)
4. healthcare (because I assume the options will be generally the same everywhere)
In a new sales role. Commission on sales, 2x multipliers after crossing target, 3x multipliers after doubling target. Don’t know why I wasted so many years in sales/delivery making partners rich.
@Deloitte2, if you don’t mind me asking, what level are you? I have friends at Deloitte and similar firms and only heard bonuses of 10-15% but perhaps it goes higher when you become manager and beyond...?
@EY1 - hey we get paid $13.99 😂 for me, it’s PTO, 401K, and expense policy. How’s 401k at EY?
After a year at the firm they match 25% of the first 6% and then after four or five it’s 50% of of the first 6%. Vested after five years
OP what do you mean? We get a percentage of our salary based on performance. Mine was $45k last year. I will also say mat leave is important but that’s at a point in time in your career. I can’t say I was thinking about it when I was younger but it did keep me at my company when I started thinking about starting a family and I’m loyal to my company that they’ve been good to me as a new parent.
Healthcare is always the greatest benefit. Just ask those who don’t have it
Recently had to have preventative surgery and I can now say having a good health care plan is a privilege I will no longer take for granted.
@SM1, what’s your bonus structure??
VP1 the percentages do increase as you get higher. Mine was 22.5% last year and it can go higher than that.
Those were all Manager I believe, maybe one SC. In addition, as a homegrown employee, my salary was likely lower than others, so gross may have been more in line. Also, these are obviously tied to performance, and I would assume I received near max bonus each year.
Seems like a low percentage for M and above
It's PTO. 401k match is nothing in Consulting compared to industry.. my wife gets 100% match up to 5% without any vesting period. Deloitte and most Consulting it's 25% of 6%.. effectively just 1.5%
