Excel, because there will always be clients of varying complexity and sophistication, but the lowest common denominator is always excel. Stick to the basics and you can go anywhere. If you specialize in a particular technology you may pigeonhole yourself to a specific product or technology. Leave the pigeonholing to the niche folks that want an immediate 5-10k bump in salary but no trajectory if you want to do back office coding for your career.

Coming from someone who has no clue what they’re talking about.

This isn’t answering the direct question. However, I think you should focus on managing people and leadership. At a certain level (manager and up) you will be managing/leading people. You will be reviewing what they do and not preparing yourself. I’d focus on those skills, as that is what the future will need (great managers & leaders).

None. If you weren’t hired as a data engineer, software dev...etc. stick to your own expertise. There’s entire groups that exist to augment these kinds of skills gaps.

Idk if I’ll say it’s most important, but alteryx is starting to be used in industry more and more, it may very well become something that you need on your resume to get hired

Maybe this is the right place to ask: a friend of mine is currently unemployed and would like to look into learning alteryx. Are there free trainings somewhere?

After many years in this business I haven’t been promoted beyond my current title of Senior Art Director. I recently was hired by an agency I respect, but most of my colleagues are considerably younger and outrank me. This is taking an emotional toll because I feel that if haven’t been able to move up in my career I either don’t have the needed talent or drive, or both. And now I’m in environment that reminds me that I got quite behind. Any words words if wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what career should I pursue. Went to B4 audit because I thought accounting goes well with me. Got a CPA with decent score and moved to FDD. Work is better than audit but still not super fun. Tried to go to IB but modeling seems not that fun and WLB was bad so I backed off. Now trying to pivot to consulting but casing is not fun... anyone having these types of chaotic situation?
