Quick vent: fiancé and I were going to put an offer in on an apartment we loved before all of this Covid stuff happened but changed that plan to rent to buy starting Aug to be safer. The sellers just told us they accepted someone else’s offer to buy. We, especially me, were in love with the apartment but we were too risk adverse to buy now bc if Covid and fiancé working at a startup that had layoffs in the beginning. Just sad bc we’ve been looking for two years and this was the perfect place.
Can someone please explain why in store grocery shopping is considered safe? I still feel like that’s covid central.
Covid19 - the facts Is it ok to start a thread here guys ? I work with the TechHandbook and also keeping a good eye on Ruqqus Covid19 https://coronavirustechhandbook.com/
What type of self help strategies do individuals actually find helpful when you feel burn out or stuck in a rut? Any books, apps, meditation, podcasts, etc, others find helpful? I've done therapy and it has definitely helped this past year with covid and a marriage separation, starting to feel like I'm making progress and want to keep up the momentum. Looking to see what type of self help others find actually beneficial and would love to use that to help others stuck in burn out too
Why exactly people are so scared of Covid? Even if you catch it, very likely you will recover. What am I missing?
Hi ladies!! I recently lost someone really close to me from covid and also had a close friendship end and have also just in general had a really rough two months - I’ve gotten through it but I feel like I’ve lost my spark and myself in some ways. Aside from therapy, do you all have any tips on how to get out of a funk and to start loving life again? Thank you!
Opposing counsel wants to force in person deposition even though I put in writing that I have a medical condition making me susceptible to covid. Should I admit I’m pregnant if it goes to motions?
I’m in Tax and completing the mandatory GAM WBL. Usually, this course it presented at ETU and can be described as three monotone panelists speaking for two hours without any inflection whatsoever. This year, due to COVID, it’s presented as WBL. However, instead of a new and interesting format, it’s just a recording of the same humdrum blithering. Except now, I get to listen to it with my children fighting in the background.
I just had to get a Covid test. I’d rather get the shot every week than that swab. I can’t imagine doing weekly testing!
Are any young healthy people considering going out and getting COVID on purpose? Most antibody studies are showing the disease is far more prevalent than we realized and therefore a much lower...
Republicans were complicit in 400,000 unnecessary American COVID deaths to spare Trump embarrassment.
Help. Feel like since covid the work is extremely transactional, I’m bored, and all of my coworkers are leaving.
Folks on H-1B, do you really need to be in your home office (or within commutable distance during COVID) 1 day per week? How strictly is this enforced, if at all? Thank you!
Any ideas that people have on how to network/break into circles of tech startups? Long story short, joined a tech Fortune 500 company a little over a year ago as an entry level analyst and things have gone downhill with COVID (limited growth here but got exposure). Looking to start new with a startup as I grew tired of the ethics of a larger corp. I have no network as it stands in tech startups, don't come from a target school (although I graduated with honors) and at a loss of where to start.
Do you feel like the COVID19 and the 2020 recession hurts a lot more than it did in 2008 (especially since we haven't reached the worst yet)?
Analytics folks, I'm looking at overlaying the graph of new COVID cases in US with deaths in US, appropriately scaled of course. Think that will show a neat lag in peaks for both, i.e, implying a new peak for deaths is coming soon?
My utilization has been so low since COVID closed off the offices. Should I be worried? Should I reach out to my relationship/career coach? Change to another group/line of service??
For the past week or so, I have been gorging on so much food with little to no exercise. I am giving myself permission to do this in the holiday season, so no guilt :) but I just noticed today when I was walking uphill, I was panting and breathing heavy, when this has never been a problem for me earlier! Please tell me this is temporary and I’ll get back my energy and lung capacity 😩
Hey there Female Bosses! I have a sensitive question and I'd love your opinion... I was tracking for a promotion and pay rise, by all company measures I earned it! The reviews ran into my maternity leave, which resulted in the company telling me nothing will happen while I'm on leave (literal discrimination). Do you have a suggestion on how I make sure I get what I earned over the past number of years? Thanks for your advice
Has anyone in a smaller city taken a pay cut to leave consulting? I'm burned out, but trying to gauge if its worth leaving the six figures salary for my work life balance back. My city doesn't have as many options for my skillset
Post final interview: it has been over 8 days and the recruiter told me that they are still making decisions. Is it likely that they’ve extended an offer and waiting for the person to accept/reject and I’m the second choice?
My upcoming interview for a Google S&O role will have a SQL assessment. Any insight into how advanced SQL assessments are for non-tech roles at Google?
Any thoughts on Riveron? Seems like their infrastructure is a few years behind but they preach WLB and better bonus structure. How much % increase should I be looking for in order to hop over to a boutique? Currently an M1 making 125k and believe I'm severely underpaid.

Just saw a social media post by a CCCO that makes it sound like he’s suffering through this new WFH routine. Jesus. Get some perspective. And what is so tough about WFH? So old fashioned.
I am highly interested in applying for the "Technology Strategy Consultant" role at the Big D in NYC. One of the questions I have is that a requirement is "minimum if a bachelor degree and 2+ years consulting/industry experience" Assuming my internships don't count for industry experience. I'll only have a couple months of experience as a consultant, I also do have a master's degree if it helps satisfies that requirement. Any insight if Deliotte would consider me as a candidate or toss me?
Has anyone went through the Consultant Development Program for Financial Services at EY? I’m interested to know the salary range. (2YOE)
Planning to move to California from east coast. 28, Single F, likes hiking, beaches and nightlife. Any recommendations on LA vs San Jose?
I’d love to discuss best practices for leave management. Anyone have any tips on which systems to leverage (HRIS, etc.) and approval workflow that they’d like to share? 🙂
Thoughts on MorganFranklin consulting? -pay -culture, etc I heard pay is same as big 4 with an extra profit share bonus. Culture is more self starter, less rank and file like big 4.
I wanted to know in reality how much does a partner lets say advisory makes on an average other than fixed salary?
I am an experienced Media Buyer who is thinking of moving to Client side. What transferable skills as a Media Buyer can I highlight that don’t look like the average Joe’s skills? Media is too niche.
Any tips for moving into management role from Technical position? There's only so many LinkedIn learning courses I do. I've taken all the opportunities for people management made available but lately it feels like "assistant to the manager" Dwight Shrute busy work. I've been applying for leadership roles but at the pay level I'm at now, years of experience is needed. Do I just have to take a massive pay cut on the chin and start again?
PA people, when someone asks you what you do for living, what do you say? A lot of people don't know what B4 or PA is so I say CPA and people think I do bookkeeping.
