They should give you a date for response. In my own experience, 3-5 days.
2 days = IC roles
2-4 weeks = Management/Exec roles
Unlimited = c-suite roles. Some companies hold out for a whole year.
I always give 3 days. My new employer only gives until the next morning.
Yes, I also think that they should be given 5 to 3 days time.
Typical is 3 days but in my experience if you need a bit more (an extra day or 2) you can politely ask and explain and most work with you.
