Not sure if serious. Big 4 refers to the big four accounting firms. I love working for Deloitte but nobody thinks we're in the same tier as MBB when it comes to brand or reputation for strategy work

like

@d1 but I wanted to give you the chance to correct me on something and look smart. I'm such an integrator!

I would say EY is old school, about 5 years behind the rest of the industry; basically the guy at the bar who's still rocking a blackberry. I see KPMG as the new kids on the big boy block; basically the kid loudly proclaiming he's made it but still has the company issued lotion bag. Deloitte is the old salty dawg; basically that old guy who shits on every opinion you have because he's always right. PwC is everywhere. It nowhere at the same time; basically that guy who you see standing next to everyone you know but no one knows who they are.

I fucking love my lotion bag.

The only consistent one I see on here is that we're supposed to be the douchiest. And I guess the jokes about KPMG barely even being a consulting firm, though those sometimes get made about EY too. Not sure what the stereotypical PwCer is

Aren't there big 4 consulting firms (Bain, McKinsey, BCG, Deloitte) and big 4 accounting firms (EY, PWC, KPMG, Deloitte)?

I love how Accenture gets left off due to the technicalities...

Will take a swing at this. Deloitte: strong and increasingly dangerous in the market - hindered by historical lack of global integration - fun, insecure around MBB. PwC: strong, but figuring out its brand after S& acquisition - intense and slightly stuffy. Kpmg: existing in their own plane and flexing clear relevance in one or two areas (e.g., deals) - fun and chill. EY: solid, maintaining prestige/influence - relaxed. McKinsey: leader firm - sharp, intense. Bain: PE king - fun, smart. BCG: great work across the board, intellectual - fun. Accenture: trying really hard and delivering some great work. Permanent lower 2nd/3rd class citizen until some structural change in the Big 4 / MBB. Slalom: the promised land for tech consultants.

Wow this is actually a refreshingly entertaining post... good to see everyone's perspectives on the other firms aren't overtly negative (e.g. "X firm sucks for Y reason"). Looks like the trolls haven't gotten ahold of this thread yet

@d1 hey it's the best I could do. I'm so underwhelming. *gets into his certified pre owned 3 series but not even really the super nice one just the sorta nice one*

PwC is known to be the best in audit and most arrogant although they've worked hard to change their conservative brand to a more totalitarian brand. Takes care of their people. Very risk averse and behind the times technology speaking. Deloitte is known to be more individualistic, less particular on the type of work they do, and has a big name but it gets watered down when they let anyone in (used to work for Deloitte)

Deloitte has a bigger market in public sector than these other firms

Are firms willing to negotiate the role with campus hires? I received an offer for a big 4 in risk, which I signed early in September, but just now received another offer in TAS from a different firm. While I much prefer the big 4 firm, I do not want to work in risk anymore. Would a big 4 be willing to change groups? Have you heard of anyone able to do this? I feel kind of bad, but I truly despise the idea of working in risk now. ( My friend who's in the role right now hates it)

I need help: In consulting interviews, is it a death sentence to have been part of the COVID-related layoffs at a Big 4 strategy arm? I have now been rejected from two other T2 strategy firms, and apparently the feedback is that “I have great experience” but they “are not moving forward with my candidacy”. I’m getting beaten down here. I have 10 years consulting experience, 7 at health plans, 5 in strategy, and 3 as a manager. I know my industry, function, and story. What am I missing?

Over the last year I’ve had 4 separate interview cycles where after the final round I’ve gotten “you had all strong feedback but the team went with the other candidate.” It’s really insulting to hear these companies say that there isn’t enough qualified black candidates but have your own experience show you that you can do everything right but still you don’t get the offer due to not looking the part I guess

Hello Fishes. I have received positive feedback from KPMG interviews for consultant position and have submitted documents. I was told I will be getting a call from HR for negotiation in a day or two and then final offer letter will be rolled out. It has been 4 working days and I haven't been contacted yet. Has anyone faced such delay? Or Is it something I should be concerned about?
