Are firms willing to negotiate the role with campus hires? I received an offer for a big 4 in risk, which I signed early in September, but just now received another offer in TAS from a different firm. While I much prefer the big 4 firm, I do not want to work in risk anymore. Would a big 4 be willing to change groups? Have you heard of anyone able to do this? I feel kind of bad, but I truly despise the idea of working in risk now. ( My friend who's in the role right now hates it)
New consultant here - when people talk about Strategy & Operations, what exactly is the operations side and what do they do? Coming from the perspective of the B4 firms having the more prestigious S&O group, but also having a separate supply chain/operations group? What’s the difference between the two ops groups?
I have an offer to join Commercial Assurance but I’m not sure what career path that could lead me to if I was to leave Big 4 - thoughts?
When would we ever have 360° feedback for seniors and staff to rate and provide feedback to their managers? Upward feedback has been a thing in Big tech/ banking but non-existent in big 4 consulting
What are people experiencing about going from a small local firm to big 4 or RSM or BDO? What is the learning curve? Do people think differently of you since you didn’t go straight to big 4?
Can anyone provide input on Grant Thornton’s SALT practice? Considering leaving Big 4 SALT for GT, but want to gather more input before making a decision.
Thoughts on moving from Big 4 audit to Financial Advisory? Pay jump would be about 50%, but the new firm is small. $25M in revenue and new office in my city - I feel like there is a good amount of risk. I’m a S1 about to be a S2
With the new cohort system does PDubs match offers that are outside of the cohort range? Say if I'm an SA3 and am offered manager at another Big 4; would they match the offer?
Any robo-advisors (or other places you’d recommend) where we’re allowed to park $? Found out that I have $ just sitting in my Vanguard brokerage account that hasn’t been traded & will need to decide myself which funds to invest this $ — don’t have the expertise or time to do this Note: There are limitations for us at Big 4, since we’re audit firms
Realistic exits from Houlihan or A&M FDD? On par with Big 4, or are these firms more of a (well-paid) destination for FDD lifers instead of a stepping stone to industry? Houlihan Lokey, Alvarez & Marsal
I need help: In consulting interviews, is it a death sentence to have been part of the COVID-related layoffs at a Big 4 strategy arm? I have now been rejected from two other T2 strategy firms, and apparently the feedback is that “I have great experience” but they “are not moving forward with my candidacy”. I’m getting beaten down here. I have 10 years consulting experience, 7 at health plans, 5 in strategy, and 3 as a manager. I know my industry, function, and story. What am I missing?
When is it best to leave big 4 Investment/Financial Services tax in terms of years/level?
so did an interview with recruiter for ITDD for one of big 4 - i feel like the call was super short - does that mean they weren't interested?
Best time to move from Audit into B4 FDD? Recently started as an A1 but looking to make the move within a year or so hopefully
I’m currently in tax technology at big 4. What is the best way to transition into a tech focused consulting group like Accenture? I have no background in actual coding; I’m currently a BA. (Continues)
Out of the Big 4 and Accenture, which is considered the best in terms of benefits, culture, and WLB?
Those who do consulting for big 4. What’s your entry level pay for undergraduates in T1 cities?
What are some of lessons you have taken from consulting; my new one: You can send emails up to 2000 feet down into Grand Canyon
Anyone interviewed on-site with Facebook Business Planning & Operations group? What was your experience?
Ever had an interview and knew within a few minutes it wouldn’t be a fit? Just had one of these and i need a drink
I really want to take a few months off between jobs once I land my exit just for mental health / dealing with burnout. Has anyone tried to set a start date 3-4 months out from final offer and any tips to share? Specifically, this would be for big tech.
Python developer at TCS or Data analyst at ICICI bank... Which one is a better role to be in for the future?
Creatives, let’s talk creative briefs. I recently attended a webinar with Rosie Arnold (ex ECD BBH). Someone asked “What do creatives want from strategists, what does a great brief consist of?” Rosie said to keep it dead simple and that actually, a smart insight, can throw a creative and the process and that it’s better to just have a simple one. Question: What are your 2 top tips for a creative brief? - addressing one GOOD (to adopt or consider) & one BAD (to change or avoid) —— Note:
MBB 🐟 - can you describe the moment when reality did not meet your excitement/expectations you had before starting the job?
Top consulting firms hiring right now?
Over the last year I’ve had 4 separate interview cycles where after the final round I’ve gotten “you had all strong feedback but the team went with the other candidate.” It’s really insulting to hear these companies say that there isn’t enough qualified black candidates but have your own experience show you that you can do everything right but still you don’t get the offer due to not looking the part I guess
What does the Ops Transformation/ Financial Services team do at Deloitte? Is it strategy work or tech implementation? Any insight on the interview process? TIA.
Hello Fishes. I have received positive feedback from KPMG interviews for consultant position and have submitted documents. I was told I will be getting a call from HR for negotiation in a day or two and then final offer letter will be rolled out. It has been 4 working days and I haven't been contacted yet. Has anyone faced such delay? Or Is it something I should be concerned about?
Okay so I started at my new company a few months ago and was able to negotiate for a higher salary. A second person for the same position/level was hired a month after me...(cont.)
Would it be better to exit when things are still good? I’m finishing up year 1 at Bain and have generally had a positive experience (great teams, great cases, etc), but I don’t want to stay here forever. I go back and forth on the thought of leaving every day since I also have a young baby. Were it not for her, I would absolutely stay for 2-3 years.
Anyone else feel odd when separated from their spouse post-pandemic? I have always been wildly independent - solo travel, full life, separate friends - but after being in the same space nonstop during the pandemic, I find it so hard to leave him for work or personal travel. I even miss him after nights out with friends! What is wrong with me? Anyone else?
