What is the typical length in time from starting the conversation to receiving an offer when transferring from one big 4 to another?

Transfer doesn't matter... From my experience it'd be nearly impossible to go from inquiry to start date in less than 2 months, 3 is much more feasible, and could be 4 - 6 depending on a variety of factors.

C1 - what skill set do you have? Just curious.

I guess I went 24 days from 1st recruiter contact to offer... But it took a month to make the recruiter contact, and to give notice/orientation cycles it took 11 weeks and I wasn't cleared for independence until the Sunday night before the Monday I was to attend orientation... So it literally could not have been any shorter.

I did it in less than a month. If you have a highly desired skill set, there will be no time wasted.

Keen to get perspectives from people who have switched between firms (i.e. McK, BCG, Bain, ATK, OW, LEK, RB, etc; sorry, not Big 4). When did you do it? Why did you do it? What were the pros and cons?

Consulting work life balance is simply taking a toll on me! Is it true that industry jobs have more work life balance than a big 4 consulting? I like my work but I am working for long crazy hours and also over the weekends (pay isn’t justified at the same time)

I need help: In consulting interviews, is it a death sentence to have been part of the COVID-related layoffs at a Big 4 strategy arm? I have now been rejected from two other T2 strategy firms, and apparently the feedback is that “I have great experience” but they “are not moving forward with my candidacy”. I’m getting beaten down here. I have 10 years consulting experience, 7 at health plans, 5 in strategy, and 3 as a manager. I know my industry, function, and story. What am I missing?

I joined B4 after college in 2019 and ever since working as QA, mainly manual/ functional testing. Can't see any progress work wise in same projects/teams. Before job, I wasn't a complete nerd but I did have some sense of programming so I wish to use that in my real life work in future. Can someone suggest how should I use my spare time so as to not be stuck in manual testing or testing itself? I'm somewhat lost when thinking of career progression after maybe next 5 years.

Consultant currently work for a boutique firm - about 120 people. What are some of the benefits to working for a Big 4 firm?

I'm getting a good amount of phone screens (guessing big 4 + CPA is getting me past the resume screen), but after that I'm honestly stuck. How do I frame risk assurance in a way that makes me valuable for financial analysis type roles? I have no experience with financial modeling, for example. I feel like I can BS about how I understand business processes, but then when it comes to technical knowledge I lean on "I'm a CPA" since the work experience sucks. Controls work is not very transferable.

If you are not a partner, do any of the Big 4 have a mandatory retirement age? I have a friend who is working in industry and has been approached by a few firms as he has a very desirable technical skill set. He is in his 50's and doesn't want to make a move unless there is some runway to keep working. He basically could work as long as he wants where he is at. The pay increase would be significant for him to jump to but if he is mandatorily forced out in a few years it might not be worth it.

I'm starting to look around for something impactful and could use some help. Amazon's remote roles are pretty limited. I have a heavy background with cloud, AI/ML and data. Looking to be involved with using my skills to move the needle on something interesting and engaging but not wanting to work grueling hours. Higher pay has usually driven my career moves. Netflix, Stripe and Slack seem appealing. But honestly, mainly because of the pay and prestige.

We’ll have parent’s support for a good long time and I know that might mean we could slack and then rudely be awakened by reality after they leave in a few months. So want to make sure both husband and I are part of it right from the beginning. E.g: should I be thinking of asking the husband to get into the habit of putting baby to sleep every night? Etc.
