What is this mental health panel? Either give us a mental health day off every quarter or leave me alone

You can schedule sick days in advance in netsuite (also could be done if you are having some sort of planned medical procedure, etc.)

If mental health is health (spoiler: it is), then sick days can be mental health days. So really we just need to all recognize this and then allow advance scheduling of sick days, approx once per quarter. (Cue the reply telling me that that’s what vacation days are for… And my reply that then we need more vacation time (more than industry standard) or an official holiday shutdown. And we need the recognition that if we take a day off just as a mental health day, without plans, that doesn’t mean we’re actually able to work through it.)

Started at a new firm a recently. I’m a little anxious about my growth opportunities. I’ve been working and billing like crazy, but the firm essentially charges insurance rates - but also are really conservative about billing and cut my hours a lot. It seems they’re really happy with my work. They’ve brought up the issue of my time and said I should be able to capture my time as long as I break the entries up more. But I think they’re still cutting it. I’m worried I won’t justify my pay goals..

I work in insurance defense and there seems to be a thought or attitude amongst many plaintiffs lawyers that all insurance defense lawyers have “sold out” or have somehow lost their souls and are now working for the bad guys. I view my job as resolving claims. Sometimes this means settlement, motion practice, and more rarely trial. I hold no animosity towards the plaintiffs bar. Without them, we’d not have jobs. What are your thoughts? Are plaintiffs lawyers justified in their beliefs?

OKAY LADIES 🌟 last question of the week of 2020. What are you most proud of from this past year?

It was a rough year, so I want to create a spot for us to all to share something we feel good about. This can be something like- I’m proud that despite shitty mental health I made it this far, or that I got into origami and now my ceiling is full of paper cranes, or really anything else!!!

Share em here and let’s celebrate each other 🤗

PSA: I had a horrible experience applying for a job at Devoted Health. Applied online and then got asked to schedule a phone interview. On the day of the interview, I waited 20 min and nothing happened. I emailed the HR rep, he didn’t acknowledge or apologize and just told me to reschedule so I did. I even sent a separate email to confirm the second phone call. Second day of the interview, same thing, no show. I sent an email letting him know that my time is not being valued. (Cont’d)

Since rolling out SN in our org, our team has changed shape just a bit. Try to understand how other operational orgs are doing things, what does your SN team's structure look like?

In my case:

3 Developers for Core administration, Catalog, and Request
1 Architect
1 Technical Manager
1 Platform Owner

All domestic and some additional development is done by one of our partners

For USAjobs postings that are not open to the public, do they eventually open up to the public if they don’t find anyone?

Account manager here. Bust my ass to make my creatives happy and provide pertinent information. Yet, I still have the basic “account” persona. What’s the deal, creatives? Legit asking how to appease.

I told family and friends I had other Fourth of July plans to get out of going to BBQs and parties today because I am always nervous I’ll see a horrific firework accident when people set them off at home. Those “leave fireworks to the professionals” signs really stuck with me as a kid lol.
