And yeah, what IS the obsession with being happy and grateful instead of annoyed and grouchy?! 🙄😂
Chief
No but you think to yourself “god, I’ve heard this a million times but I bet I’ll miss [insert name] when they’re gone so I should be thankful for this time instead of annoyed.”

Okay there is a difference between a holiday Hallmark commercial and being a human who cares about the people they are spending Thanksgiving with. 😑 If you don’t care about the person, no need to cherish anything. But the inclination to choose happiness over misery will help in life.
To me its appreciating what I have, even if it may not be enough or i could have more. And in that moment being truly content and grateful with what I have, even if for a minute.

Cherish the fact that they care enough and are excited to tell you those same stories instead of sitting there in silence thinking their kid made a huge mistake marrying someone who doesn’t give a shit

So for me it’s usually enjoying the moment with no distractions then reminiscing on it later and happy that I wasn’t on my phone, arguing, etc. The cherishing part is fondly remembering those moments/times and how you felt — somewhat wishing you could do that more frequently
Cherishing is all about the memories and how something made you feel at the time. Like when you go the Grand Canyon and you’re like damn, look at them rocks, those are some magnificent rocks, the earth is so beautiful. Or having a good day with loved ones because eventually everyone dies and those relationships and bonds can’t be rebuilt.

I agree, I find it easier to cherish stuff in retrospect because I only remember the good and forget the shitty stuff. But in the moment just about everything sucks lol
Get a divorce, then you'll know what it means.

I just think about those repeated convos from ppl no longer with us. Can be annoying in the moment but when theyre gone youll want to hear those stories.

I feel this! My grams was a great cook.. dad too and I hate that I never wrote those recipes down.

You can cherish something and still find it annoying. Doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive. My parents annoy the fuck out of me, but I love them to death. When I feel the overwhelming sense of love I make sure to express it. 😅
I just cherish the food 😋
