I lateraled to a BigLaw firm last year. I had one 30 minute screener and then 2 consecutive days with four 30 minute interviews in each day (totaling 4 hours of interviews). I basically I interviewed with everyone in the team. They extended an offer with 2-3 days.
No one asked for references. We talked about my practice area in general, what type of work I did, why I wanted to move, and why that specific firm. There were no technical questions. This is the second time I lateraled to BigLaw and it was the same the first time.
A1: TY for sharing! Appreciate it.
When I lateraled to a mid sized firm pre-pandemic I had three rounds of interviews each one week a part. I met essentially all the lawyers who wanted to meet me during those interviews. Got an offer within a week of the last round. No real conflicts but offer was conditional on background check. Currently in the process of potentially lateraling to BL. Two rounds of interviews a week apart of WebEx. Conflicts are in process and I was told there’d be a third round upon conflicts clearing (not holding my breath tho).
