Anyone recently received a tax manager offer from EY ? I’m going through final interviews and want to see what your experience was like (negotiation process, initial offer higher/lower than expected?, did you give them a salary expectation range? How long did it take from final interview to offer etc) TIA!PwC EY KPMG Deloitte

What percentage would you like? They’re going to ask for a range. Seniors are always in need and firms are willing to compensate. Also helpful to interview at multiple B4 and leverage offers against each other..
Depends how much you make now and what level you’re at S1,S2,S3 as far as what the market value is but ask for 20% they’ll counter if they want you and think that’s out of range
For example, If you’re a S1 making $65k in a L-COL city and that’s average, and average in the new city for your level is $72k I would ask for around $85k and not go below $80k! People need seniors bad!
Thanks for the insight!
There is no “typical”. Ask for what you want!
Well, it’s possible there may be a pay cut, it might not be as dramatic as you think. I changed firms twice before being at the firm I’m at now and have been for the last 15 years. When I switched I was told a narrow range for my roles. While such ranges do still exist, many partners’ stances have softened. I really want talented people in my team and sometimes the right person is 40-50% more efficient and proficient, so it’s totally worth it. If you know you will be just way out of range, then naturally consider your requirements, I would submit though, it may not be as drastic as I have heard sometimes quoted.
Big 4 to another big 4 and same city or what?
Big4 to big 4 or Big4 to mid-tier. From Low Col to slightly higher.
B4 to B4 I’d expect whatever the COL bump would be within your firm plus a few percent. B4 to regional same for COL but a slightly higher (4-6%) bump for switching
Why switch laterally?
Definitely don’t just go for a COL adjustment! This is the one time you can actually ask for what you want and you could get it.
