What is up with the kind of sad paternity/maternity leave at consulting firms?? I know Deloitte had a great policy but it looks like they were definitely not the norm! I am always surprised at how firms talk about empowering women, then follow up with like 4 weeks before you get told to get back to work, and then seem flabbergasted that there aren't more women in leadership roles. Is there not enough demand for more time post partum? Wild...

Deloitte definitely has a great leave program and I am thankful for it. I think most of the Big 4 have a similar program now? Surprises me that any firm would be asking new moms to come back after 4 weeks. My husband works at a smaller tier firm and even he gets 8 weeks paternity leave. In this talent market, having a terrible leave policy seems like a good way to lose talented people.

Spoke to a small firm that was offering 2 weeks plus 6 weeks STD. Couldn’t agree more with it being a sure way to lose talented folks

Husband currently left a company that had a 6 week unpaid leave for paternity while my company is offering 3 month paid maternity. I think it’s crazy that we can’t get a national level agreement on one type of policy. 6 weeks or 3 month is not enough!

Agreed the big 4 have comparable policies. One thing I would look at since you appear to be at a non big 4 now is if STD is treated separately. At PWC we get STD separately from parental leave so it is actually 6/8 weeks std after birth + parental leave. So it could be your 4 weeks on top of the other. Either way it is less than big 4 leave (at PWC we get +12 weeks leave + 4 weeks transition at 50%) but 10/12 is better than 4.

I think it's 4 weeks paid, 2 weeks STD? It's not good. I post it as a question during every "women's empowerment" meeting that leadership likes to host: yay women blah blah words words are nice but they seem so disingenuous and ridiculous when their actual policy/actions are kind of the bare minimum...

Deloitte is 6/8 weeks STD + 16 weeks family leave. They just did away with providing lactation support and a free breast pump fyi

When did they get rid of lactation support and the breast pump?! :(

I have offers from both United Health Group and Atlassian for a Senior Financial Analyst position. Similar Comp (Atlassian slightly higher due to stock options). Coming from another healthcare company as a SFA, does anyone have experience at either company? In the long term, does Atlassian look better on a resume/work experience due to the Tech/Software space? Seems like their culture is great, but a much higher work load due to the nature of the company. Thanks! Happy to answer DM's too
