Wilson Sonsini (we are trying to rebrand from WSGR) is more of a combination of boutiques working together. So there’s no one answer to your question and is dependent on the group. WLB overall is better than my friends’ respectively. We received 2 weeks of additional vacation time during the pandemic, one week of which counted for 40 hours of billables. My group has quarterly check-ins to make sure we are o.k. mentally. I am encouraged to take 1 hour of “me time” a day where partners know I’m offline.
The downside is the cases are leanly staffed and there’s no true coverage. Upside is as long as you do your work, you can literally be anywhere. Know associates who have gone to Korea, Portugal, Italy, Costa Rica, etc. for 1-3 months and as long as they worked, it was o.k.
I’ve heard that if you’re looking for a silicon valley firm, Cooley and Fenwick have a better lifestyle/culture, although I don’t work at any of these firms and dont know first hand.

WSGR lit is second fiddle to a firm that is quite corporate but their clients are top notch and the issues are interesting/cutting edge.
I’m a first year so limited experience, but I will say I have more WLB than a lot of my friends at other firms. I really like the people in my practice group and we get a lot of interesting cases
Do you mind if I PM you and ask more questions? I’d love to know more

Fenwick and Cooley would be better for WLB
