Chicago Summers! Totally worth it ;)

can’t put it into words but the city feels like home. during the holidays, during the summer, rainy days, snowy days, sunny days… when I’m in Chicago I feel like I’m home.

I grew up in the suburbs of chicago and lowkey dreamed about living here for a good 20 years of my conscious life. I don’t think I can ever go back to the burbs

We have a beautiful city with all that comes with it. Sports teams, entertainment, restaurants, nights life, culture, etc. And it’s much cleaner than cities like NY. We have the lakefront. Also it’s more affordable than SF, LA and NY.

With that said, the stain on our city is crime.

Grew up in the burbs, after college moved to small town North Carolina, then Los Angeles, then Indianapolis, then South Bend, IN, then back to Chicago and live in the city now. This finally feels like home. Having lived in so many different types of places before, I have such an appreciation for Chicago now. The biggest game changers for me have been all the resources and opportunities, the people/connections, and the city’s old school charm.

It’s not as expensive as living in NYC.

And still pretty expensive.

Born and raised in the Chicago area. Absolutely love the diversity here.
I lived in Knoxville for two years and felt like the food, culture, people weren't the same.

Moved back to Chicago 4 years ago. Was such a relief.

Ahh, my people. I love this city! The lakefront, the architecture, the history, the summer (and fall!), the quirks, the neighborhoods, the festivals, sports, restaurants, the people. The negatives are all well documented and I call that as it is but it’s also great to remember all that makes it worth fighting for. To answer your question: my favorite thing is that there are so many things to love all in one city.

Leaving O'Hare.

Seems like money talks (and I have lived in many, many places).

Left Chicago years ago, but visit every year. The amount and quality of career opportunities are amazing. These just aren't available in other parts of the world, combined with the cost of living. That being said, the crime and corruption here are also unheard of in other parts of the world. I'll probably move back to the Chicago area in a couple of years, but most likely a suburb.

Hi Bro,
Greetings !
I have recently cleared two round in optum and my HR discussion is done. The HR is telling i will have to do background verification post that i will receive offer letter. I am eager to complete background verification, but HR is not responding to my calls and mail for couple of days, nor she has initiated the background verification. Is this the general procedure in Optum. How much time does it take to release offer letter post HR discussion ?Is there any way I can track it?

I’ve taken Adderall for several years & it has helped a lot for my ADHD. However, recently I have been increasingly overwhelmed with balancing work, school, & home life. I am really struggling to manage my symptoms even while taking the maximum ER dosage. I recently started taking Strattera as well, but haven’t noticed much improvement. My doctor has suggested switching to Vyvanse instead. What are your thoughts on Vyvanse vs Adderall? Has anyone has had more success with it?

Hey, Chi. First time caller.

So I'm considering a switch from law to consulting, and noticed EY has started posting salary ranges for positions. All the mid- to senior-level jobs I'm looking at are in the $95k to $150k range. Is that right? True for all the big 4? Seems super low. I guess I never thought about it before but how exactly do you folks get paid?

Looking for recruiting firms to help me find my next project / program management role.

Struggling to determine which firms can help with PM roles AND I'm struggling to get the ones I do find to respond to me. It may have something to do where I'm at in my career - 15+ years of PM experience & director-level roles at my last 2 companies - so more exec level but not quite C-Suite. Have tons of one-off recruiters hitting me up on LinkedIn about contract PM roles but that's not what I want.
