What is your firm's policy on parental leave? How many weeks do you get?

What are some side gigs people have done that they wouldn't pursue again today? Are there any you'd still go for, but would approach completely differently?

Thinking along the lines of:
- Platforms you'd keep away from
- Gigs that people have missed the boat on by now or instead that have just taken off only now
- Specific hustles that aren't worth the upfront cost/hassle in setting up or that are super hard to hire for
- Policies/attitudes you'd adopt going into things this time around

Working on a divorce where the father is claiming that he is unemployed because of the previous administration’s actions with DACA (he was brought to the States as a child). I know that the memo rescinding DACA was ultimately vacated—but OC is unsure whether this would count as voluntary unemployment for child support purposes. I believe it does as the application period to renew DACA benefits was reopened in 2020. Thoughts?

Hey BA friends! I work at a small agency and we’re doing a shoot end of the month. Normally all of our production insurance is covered by liners but for some reason this shoot clients are asking to see our production insurance policy, which we don’t have. Learned on the day of the deadline to enroll, that my partner's employer offers voluntary participation on a deferred compensation plan. First time I hear of such a benefit/option after working for years! Any general (i.e. not plan-specific) lessons-learned, gotchas, pointers to offer as we will have to quickly decide to enroll or not?

I find myself questioning basic politeness I’ve learned since a child. Wondering what everyone else thinks. I work with an associate. She’s great. When she does good work or something I’ve asked her to do, I, of course, say “thank you!” I don’t really expect a response. She always replies “you’re welcome!” Or some variation. And for some reason, that’s awkward. Is it just me? I know in normal manners, that is the right response. Why does it sit funny?

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭
