Learn to say no politely and be strategic about what you take on internally whilst balancing client work (eg partner visibility, $$ = great). Look after your health first as at the end, it doesn’t matter (no one will thank you on your death bed for working harder or longer)

These build on each other New analyst - listen and ask clarifying, thoughtful questions to another analyst or consultant, not above that. Analyst - google has more answers than your manager, ask clarifying question when in doubt. Think how you can help others Consultant - seek to understand, know what you are talking about. They can see the BS coming. Help those who need it without them asking Manager - ask thoughtful question, you already know the answer. Guide to the decision you want. Let others think it was their idea (SMs and MDs) That's all I have for now.

Once you become a people manager, remember that You set the tone. If you’re visibly stressed out, you’ll make your team feel stressed out / panicked. If you display calm rationalism in the midst of chaos and firedrills, that will help immensely!!

It depends

Just because a client has an iconic brand and is the best in the world at what they do doesn’t mean they don’t have all the same issues internally as everyone else

Consulting is full off people who use and throw you. Learn early to make out who is genuine and who is exploiting you

The greatest lesson is the hardest one to apply: It doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, regardless of what strategy we devise, how many millions we save or make the client or firm, no one will remember you a year from now for what you did on that engagement or project. Too much of what we do truly has no material impact on the world or soul.

Any finance wizards? Paying for grad school - Should I, Roll 401k into IRA and then take education distribution (full pay with this). This method incurs income tax but no penalty. Or Pay with cash and then the rest with 401k/IRA rollover and educ distribution Or Max out loans? I was thinking of loans given the interest rate is like 4-5% and you can always pay them off with the other methods in the future if you want... and you may not always have the opportunity to take on debt.
