What is your monthly beauty budget and what does it include? I need to up my game in this area but trying to stick to $800 or less per month. I really need to start getting regular facials and waxing which is why I'm keeping it a little higher. Thanks!

Honestly a really good skincare routine will absolve the need of monthly facials. I get a facial once a quarter or less. I would recommend Korean skincare not only because it’s effective but it’s also really affordable. Some good brands are Laneige, Peach & Lily, Peach Slices and Purito. SPF also goes a long way. I’d recommend Supergoop mineral sunscreen. Happy to provide more skincare recommendations if you’d like. I also agree with the other comment as to getting laser hair removal over waxing.

like

Lol here we go!

Facewash
IOPE whipping foam cleanser $34

Toner
Daytime: Purito Cantella Green level calming toner $18
Nighttime: Peach Slices snail rescue blemish busting toner $14

Serum
Ole Henriksen Glow Cycle Retin-Alt Power Serum OR Peach Slices Glass Skin serum $40
Nighttime: Ole Henriksen Dewtopia 20% Acid Night treatment
(Ole is the only brand I use that isn’t Korean skincare so they’re slightly more expensive but I got them so long ago I’m not sure how much they cost lol)

Moisturizer
Daytime: Peach & Lily Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream $40
Nighttime: Peach Slices All In One Oil Free Moisturizer $13

Cream
For oily skin: Tatcha Water Cream $65
For dry skin: Laneige Water Sleeping Mask $30

Sunscreen
Supergoop Matte Screen SPF

Masks
Peach Slices Snail Rescue Intensive Wash Off Jelly Mask $20
Origins Rose Clay Mask

Lips
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask ($22)

For all of these products, a little goes a long way and should last 3-6 months 😊

I spend more on beauty than rent. I've prioritized maintaining youth over a larger apartment. As a woman the consequences of getting old are way too high. Take care of yourself.

likefunny

We all have differences in what we prioritize spending money on so someone saying it’s ridiculous is actually ridiculous themselves. I spend an insane amount of money for my kids to play sports plus the cost of equipment and lessons. But they love it and it gets them out of the house and off electronics so I happily do it.

$800 a month?!

like

I don’t do these things every month per se but spend ~$10k per year which averages out to $800 per month. If I was buying all of these things every month it would be much much more expensive. I like to wear makeup so that is expensive with foundation, concealer, blush, setting spray, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, lipstick. I refresh these items every 2-3 months.

Damn. Y’all are high maintenance as hell.

likefunny

I would never spend 800 a month on such things because majority of the mentioned treatments can be done at home.
U can get a good hair curler and do that at home for example - skin care u need max 5 products. The others are all exaggerated and barely help - eating clean and exercising is way more important in my opinion

like

So then answer the OP’s question, how much do you spend?
Not really your business if they want/can spend $800. Stop being so judgmental

Yes. I’m black and it works for me. You just have to find a legitimate esthetician. My first time around was horrible with someone who wasn’t familiar with darker skin tones.

I think you're in a reasonable range. As long as you're not going into debt for monthly facials, keep up the good work! I probably spend around 800 on hair, nails, skincare, facials, and an occasional massage or body wrap. It's a long term investment in your skin and wellbeing.

like

It varies depend on the month. Big ticket items are every 4 months :
Keratine: 450$
Tetronoin: 90$
Botox: 400$
Hair dye: 200$

Monthly items:
Hydra facial: 150$
Manicure and pedicure: 100
Hair salon every 8 days: 60$
Injected peptides: 450$

Every 3 months:
Chanel cleaning gel
Eye cream
Peptide serum
Moisturizer
Face wash
Vitamin C
Around 500$ for that.

Highly recommend doing the facials at home. Tata Harper, Agent Nateur, Maya Chia, Kypris Beauty have some amazing clean products. Shani Darden has a facial wand, I’ve seen tremendous improvements since I started using it at home. I use the Dr Dennis Gross facial pads, those help too. You are better off investing in high end items that will last you a couple of months and you still get to save some dollars while seeing results. Agent Natuer has an amazing marine collage powder, it tagged the Hermes version of collagen :)

$800! I almost had a heart attack! I'm super into beauty, take excellent care of my skin and hair, and I spend maybe $200 a month, and that includes getting my nails done like clockwork. I do most of my beauty care at home. There are so many great products that last 3-5 months. That's really an insane amount of money. I guess some people have it to just throw away.

Just go visit a dermatologist. Will save you more in the long run.

I think age is a missing part of the discussion. Are you 25-35 and spending that money? You might think it’s all working, and worth the 💰, but really you could probably mostly ignore your skin and be fine, because youth is the best serum out there. It’s a different story over 45. And at that point none of it really seems to do much, except medical treatments like Botox or injections.

like

You’re mostly right, but ignoring it isn’t the answer… sunscreen + tretinoin are the best investments out there ☺️

like

Probably around $450 honestly. That includes hair, nails and a facial. I had laser hair removal done so no waxing. My brows are microbladed so a yearly touch up is all I do.

Maybe $200 recurring, with ~$400-600 in some months.

100 for monthly facials (usually $60 on subscription; I get them for the therapeutic piece not because I need them ☺️)
$50 for haircut every six weekish
$50 for Rx skincare (tretinoin mainly with some other things for acne)

And then:
$400 for hair perm every six months
$100 for massage every two months as needed
$50 for face lotion / serums every four months as needed

I do my own nails

$800 is outrageous lol you should definitely be able to stay under that

Monthly facials is a wash if u have good skincare. Reallocate that expense to botox and microneedling.

Question: I currently work as an inside sales account manager selling a wide portfolio of IT products. I’ve been recruited for a role that would be an outside sales role selling ONLY a software solution that Im able to sell at my current company (but usually don’t due to other options that we are compensated better off of.) The new role would have some overlap with current customers that I work closely with now (one being a VERY large client.) Would this violate a non-compete/solicitation?
