I have been approached by GCP recruiter for a Data/AI Customer Engineer role. How is the culture in GCP? is it relaxed or long hours? and how much do you work in pre-sales vs post sales? is work from home/remote work allowed? and what the expected level should be for an 15+ years experienced professional. Any other tips would be great as well.

Let’s call out the scam now: return to the office policies are asking for more of your time for the exact same pay. Record billables over the year and a half have shown that associates are indefinitely more efficient working at home. If you want me to come to the office, lower your billable expectation or pay me more. Simple economics. We have leverage, let’s exert it here.

I was swarmed with work in June and until 10 days ago, now everything's gone silent again. I'm guessing it's directly related to the COVID uncertainty (e.g. 2nd waves and all). Until we have a vaccine we won't be making a lot of money, I guess. I'm on track to bill 1750 hours this year if I'm lucky.

Does anyone have the 2020 SHRM books for sale or to borrow? My job won’t contribute towards my certification. I’ve already paid for my test. I have the books from 2015 but I’d like to study from the 2020. I tried finding them online to purchase but sellers of affordable books aren’t responding.

I’ve been interviewing at a variety of companies this week (ranging from FAANG to smaller tech companies to nonprofits). How long after the interview should I give them before assuming I’m out of the running? When I last switched jobs, it was typically about a week - is that still standard?
