What is your static friction when it comes to job change, i.e. what percentage salary bump would motivate to change job assuming the rest is similar.
I would not move my ass for 10% increase, i would think about it if it was 20%. Not sure what would be the exact threshold to jump :D
If your talking just salary and not taking into other factors like career progression, work life balance, training, bonuses, technology stacks etc. So its 2 almost identical companies I think yer 10% I wouldn’t take the risk if I was currently happy. 20% I would start to consider.
But I would defo rather take into consideration the other stuff I mentioned before all this Salary stuff.
I have to go with 0% if completely miserable currently. 20% is slightly miserable. 30% if I'm just looking for a change. 50% if I love my current job. It's all about happiness.
I would consider only close to 30 to 40%

As others have said, it isn't as simple as a number.
Is your current job is a dead end? Or, a toxic environment? Or, if you think the company is about to collapse or have layoffs. Is the culture and opportunity at the new company much better? Are the benefits much better? What are the relative responsibilities of the jobs? Where are you in your career? Is the job what you want to do?
I've know people to take pay cuts if the job is a better fit or has long term potential for their career.
I did it for 10%, but next time, I'm doing it for 40% and/or fully remote. Still trying to find this unicorn
WFH is NOT a unicorn, especially post covid. No offense but if you have a job that makes you feel like simple wishlist items such as these are unicorns then you definitely need a change.
I think I agree. It would have to be 20% or more to get me to move. Or maybe if it was like a once in a lifetime opportunity that I couldn't pass up.
Agreed!
It really depends on the situation I was in at the moment. Currently, I'm happy where I am so I think I'd need at least 20-25% to consider a jump. If I was completely miserable, I might change for zero increase. It's all relative.
I've definitely moved for a 10% increase, and I don't regret it. My work life balance has increased tremendously. For me, this was worth it.
