What is your ultimate career or salary goal in this field? Do you feel that it is feasible? I'm starting to have second thoughts about being in healthcare.

I have been in a very high demanding Vice President role for revenue cycle making about $130K.

I’m currently still in RCM as a director and making $205K.

I don’t think it’s worth chasing titles for me anymore. I’m more interested in making good earnings and having a very healthy work life balance.

Thank you for sharing this! Because I thought I wanted this as an ultimate career goal as well but hear from so many in that position that work life balance is difficult

Salary goal is 500k+ at a SVP or C-suite level. Definitely not the easiest thing to attain but doable nonetheless.

Coming out of grad school I thought the dream was running a community hospital but that doesn’t sound as enticing these days. I obviously want to continue growing and the salary part will take care of itself.

As for second thoughts of staying in the industry, you aren’t alone! I think a lot of us particularly during the pandemic hit a point of burnout that’s unprecedented. I think one thing to remember is healthcare is vast, so you can move sectors and still be tied to the industry.

My ultimate career goal is to be VP of corporate compliance and risk management in a behavioral health sector, I have masters in healthcare administration. I have been a director of quality, compliance and risk management role going 4years now. When ever I found a corporate Quality position it requires RN, and corporate risk management usually required RN as well or legal background.

I am currently thinking of getting out of healthcare. But also healthcare has greater job security. I am not sure what I should do.

Ultimately I’m looking to get into a mid-senior quality or CDI position. Looking for high 5’s or very low 6 figures. I’m graduating with my bachelors in HIM in the spring so I will be able to obtain my RHIA, and then I’m considering getting a masters in health law/health compliance after that. I have a good amount of experience, but once I get my RHIA I will be able to move into coding quality and auditing and focus on that. I think it’s super feasible.

I currently make $120K. I would like to make $200K+ but I’m interested in being an entrepreneur as well.

My goal is to break 100k by next year. I'm close now. I've been in healthcare for 20+ years. No college degree, but a few certifications. I'm currently in a process improvement analyst role, which differs from my previous RCM Ops role.

I thought about finishing my degree and venturing into senior operations, but I'm comfortable, and managing NO people :)

There are lots of senior ops roles that are still individual contributors, but often you may have to veer into strategy, quality or project or product management.

Just a question for those here. What does anyone see as a job outlook for a pharmacy technician that has 15 years of experience and is studying for the CPhT? I would like to return to 100% remote work and, understandably, most job postings that are about my caliber are requiring the cert. I am thinking of possibly pivoting into an IT job that would be fully remote later on down the road, but I’m interested in seeing what is possible now (and an average pay) for someone with my experience.

I currently work for a non big 4 accounting firm and have been applying to jobs outside of public. It’s been over a month and I can’t even get a call back. Would it be worth considering switching to big 4 for a year then trying again? Or should I stay patient and keep doing what I’m doing. I should also probably mention I am a female and plan on trying to start a family in the next year.

I have an MHA and 4 years of management experience. I’m currently a manager, but seeking a director level position. Any advice for trying to temper my expectations? I feel like all director level positions have 5 years in the posting, but a lot of my peers with the same experience are already in director level positions. Are they just lucky? Am I jumping the gun? Do I just need to stick it out?

Definitely took the wrong job. I was offered a seriously competitive salary and great benefits to work at a well funded startup, which is great! Turns out the salary and benefits were meant as lowkey bribes to insure I worked at the company without actually doing any work. Every single suggestion I've made has been shut down and I've been ghosted for several meetings with the CEO. What should I do? Just leave?

Oof. Crying like crazy. My in laws called me and were insanely emotionally abusive about my grief. It’s Father’s Day and we had a wedding to go to. Yes it’s been 2 years but I also do a lot for my family and husband and others. It’s very rare that my grief gets triggered. I’m allowed to have 1 bad day out of 365.
