I’m going into industry in a couple of weeks. I knew it will be a good WLB when a friend of mine says people think it’s busy season when they work past 5:30 p.m.

Timing. What's the point of working 40 hours when you can't go to any of your hangouts with friends because you're sleeping in the middle of the day?The hourly pay is nice though, but it is super hard work. Difficult patients, incredibly dirty work at times, incompetent hospital management who are always budget cutting, rude doctors who sometimes see you as nothing more than wait staff. And you're CONSTANTLY on your feet unlike us where we're mostly sitting.

Some say the oldest profession (wink wink) but I am not convinced about that!

Only fans. Or the off-line version of it.

Unicorn farming

Definitely not public accounting lol

Non-profit or being the financial manager/town accountant for a small town. You won’t earn a huge amount.... but you’ll get all the holidays and only work about 35 hrs a week.

Tips for 6-month eval? Originally hired at 35K as assistant and was told if I performed well, I could expect to make 50K after a year. After one week, the operations manager resigned and I took over as a trial. Officially am operations manager, but no title (only verbal) and no raise. Owner likes benefits over big pay raises. Thinking about asking for 46K, new cellphone and official title change. I'm expecting some negotiating, which I've never done. 24F, AA Bus Admin, and overall good employee

Anyone here a Client Onboarding Associate for an RIA? We have YE reviews coming up soon. I’m pretty sure I am a shoe in for a promotion, but in case I don’t get it (god-forbid), what is the going salary for this position? I would definitely ask for a raise and a merit bass bonus, so I want to gauge what you all think a good salary is for this role. Any thoughts? Oh! I am also based in NYC.

Took my first vacation (1 week) in over a year to visit family. Was bombarded by emails from one partner asking me to complete non-time sensitive motions, which he hasn’t even bothered to review. This is my third firm in three years (first I left as I was severely underpaid, second I left for a 100k increase in salary), but this lack of respect for my boundaries has made me want to move again once I’ve completed 18 mos. Bad? They don’t do this to the other associates (all male).

This is the most basic question, so yep, I’m asking you to take it easy on me when you reply. I have been practicing for about 5 years total. I have been in civil practice for 2 years. These 2 years have been the most demoralizing, unfulfilling 2 years of my life. I have been giving myself pep talks to find the “positive” spin on it but firm life isn’t for me. I know networking is key but do you have some thoughts/suggestions on how to make an exit...crying at therapy is becoming too much.

How do you not care / stress way too much about your job? I am a mom and stressed out most workday evenings thinking about the work / interactions during the day. I have heard TEd talks about compartmentalizing job vs personal life , mindfulness etc , but I don’t change.
