Friday night and chill
Happy Sunday, watch lovers.
I like this more than I thought I would.
This might be my new daily. 36mm is so comfy.
Great for the office, great for an afternoon hike.

Thanks for the help! I’m going to call the shop tomorrow and ask about it. We’ll see how they respond, then I can go from there.
So I ended up taking it back to the shop. It was just magnetized. All fixed up now! They tested it to within Superlative Chronometer performance over the past week.
I’ll be testing that, but for now, all resolved!
+/- 2 seconds / day? +4/-6 seconds per day? Something else?
I'd cut them some slack and expect the latter. +- 2 secs is what I'd expect from holy trinity mechanics
They’re rated to -4/+6 if it says chronometer on the dial. Modern rolexes are all guaranteed to be +/-2 sec per day “superlative chronometer” on the dial.
I’d be happy if it were close to -4/+6, but if it hasn’t been serviced recently, I’d make it a point to do that
Mine says “Superlative Chronometer” on the Dial. I just got it. It’s running very poorly right now, like +30. I’m gonna have to take it back to the dealer to get it fixed.
I’m mostly trying to get a sense of the expectation I should set with the dealer. Meaning, should I say I won’t be happy unless it’s running +/- 2? Or +4/-6?
Also - mine is supposed to have just been serviced
-4/+6 - that’s COSC chronometer standards. I wouldn’t be happy with +30, but I might find another watch rather than trusting their guy to go in and regulate it
They have a good reputation. I’m going to give them a shot. Plus, I don’t really want to pay someone else when they will do it for free
I was gonna say return it and get a different example of the same watch
Really? I like the watch a lot. It’s a relatively rare variant of the Explorer II 16570 (Superluminova, holes case, solid end links).
Do you think it’s unlikely that the watch can be brought back to COSC? Can you help me understand why you would return it?
Well for starters awesome choice. That’s my favorite variant of that watch. I’m 100% sure the watch *can* be brought within COSC specs. I would personally ask that the AD have it sent to Rolex RSC to have to work done - rather than having their guy do it. If they won’t pay for the work from the RSC (since the watch is definitely out of spec) I might consider finding a new one. They’re rare but not myrrh
Is the concern that their guy won’t be able to do it? I feel like they probably won’t send it to the RSC b/c they have an ex-Rolex guy in house.
I’m inclined to give them a shot, then if it’s not within spec, ask them to send it to a RSC. Frankly, I’m really glad I found this watch and I don’t feel like doing that work again 🙃
Also- the watch was shipped, so who knows, maybe it got magnetized or something. It may not even be their fault.
What do you think?
I mean. I think their guy would be able to do it, but I’d be concerned about a watch that “was serviced” by him but is running +30s per day.
Magnetized isn’t a bad call - maybe worth taking it to a local watchmaker and asking them to demag it - they can do it in a few mins for a nominal fee without having to open the case
Let us know!
