Dunno the answer to your question but here’s a data point:
Left as SM for 40% increase to base and 40% (of old base) additional in RSUs
This is main difference. With sr manager, more likely to leave for a position that receives significant equity (senior/executive VP, director, senior manager, etc)
That’s an impossible question - every exit op is different and every market is different; but, in general, the more experience as senior manager the more likely you leave for a better position such as CFO or VP, as you can add business development to your resume not just accounting (assuming you take on initiatives such as revenue growth or other roles in your firm, such as regulatory compliance) - but, sometimes an org wants a manager that they can vet to takeover for a retiring VP, so you leave with future opportunity in the exit op.
