60k-80k per year with a paid off house should be plenty imo

like

300k if everything in life goes perfectly to plan - which never happens

A1 - quick rule of thumb for compounding: your money doubles at 72/annual rate.

Hoping for at least 150k in today’s dollars If I can hold out that long. I could make it work on 100k. House will be paid off.

Hi guys,
How is the current market in India
I'm working as a python dev with 5.3 yrs of experience and am actively searching in the job market.
I have completed 1.3 yrs in my current company with a CTC of 14.5 LPA. The work culture here is toxic with nothing much to learn.
My peers who left from here have got offers above 25 LPA.
Referrals are welcome :)

What’s the best low calorie, high protein snack?

Background- In quarantine I’ve been intermittent fasting &calorie counting for a few months, and still working out in the mornings. My workout has usually been a 3-4 mile run and I’ve definitely gotten leaner but I’m now trying to add in more strength training, and so I feel like I should be getting protein after my workouts.

Any advice on where to go from here appreciated too!

I’m in a major city, firm is a boutique that has been around a very long time. What would you suggest? Any studies or research you’ve seen recently on trends in parental leave policies also helpful. I am convinced buying a house is a poor use of money when living near any mid-sized to large city when looking at investing that money over a 15-30 year time frame. What do I need to be considering?

Do people tend to age out of wanting to FIRE?

In your 20s-30s, you don’t know much, you’re told what to do, you have few financial resources so you are tied to your job. Under these circumstances it makes perfect sense why you would want to FIRE asap.

But eventually you advance up the ladder, you are now the boss and your people do all the grunt work. You also have built up expertise which makes the job easier. And you are making the best money of your life. FIRE is no longer so pressing.

I am still waiting on a 2k federal tax refund from the 2019 tax year. I’ve called 20+ times over the past year, and haven’t gotten more than “we are working through an unprecedented backlog and will get to it soon.” Anyone in a similar boat and/or have any advice other than wait?

I have a lot of student debt from law school. I’ve refinanced a couple of times and received the best fixed rate available, but I’ve seen others refinance with a variable rate which of course is lower. I’ve read some other comments of people refinancing at a super low variable rate....isn’t this risky? Of course I am afraid of going variable and then the interest rates going up a lot. Am I missing something?

Where can I start learning about retirement in America? I’m naive on the topic and originally from another country so I need reliable learning resources. I’m 31 and don’t have anything yet, except 6months in emergency fund and I started traditional 401k a few months ago, but can’t max it out currently as I make less than $70k right and single, so I’m currently putting 6% on a targeted retirement age portfolio.

Anyone here retire in late 30s or know someone that has?

New to investing. I want to open a Roth IRA and put 3000$ in to buy VTSAX. My plan after that is to contribute 200- 300$ at the end of each month. Is that how you guys do it? Do you watch the market and buy on a specific day when the market is low or do you just pick a day of the month- lets say every 30th day of the month to add to your acct? Thanks

I heard someone make a bold statement that contributing to a traditional 401k versus a Roth 401k were the exact same assuming the same tax rate. I ran the numbers and to my surprise they were not wrong (even considering the earnings). Can anyone explain why a Roth would ever make sense given that income will likely be lower and therefore lower tax rate in retirement?
