We (KPMG) get 25 days per year and then the firm closed for almost 2 weeks during Christmas time and we are only charged 1-2 days of PTO for it

Life is a PTO.

KPMG has a very good deal. At BAH, they keep taking stuff away from us!

To clarify, we closed down for the week between Christmas and New Year. We received two paid holidays for Christmas and Christmas Eve, we received an additional two "holidays" for participating in an internal company initiative, and were forced to use one day of PTO. We then had New Years day off, and if you took any other time off, it was PTO. I'm not complaining, as this is more generous than any other company I have worked for, just wanted to paint a more accurate picture. If you took two weeks off, 5 days were covered by the company and 5 days came out of your PTO bucket.

15 days per year plus holidays and 2 or 3 days during Christmas week, depending on the year.

20 days and a few extra days off around Xmas

27 days plus holidays although nearly impossible to use. I end up working parts of Scheduled PTO all the time. Last vacation I took scheduled for 6 days or 48 hours. Think I took 25-30 hours of PTO as I had ~20 hours of billables.

22 days for managers and above, everyone after 2 years - otherwise 15. Plus 10-13 holidays. Unlimited sick time

It seems that it's a graduated compensation scale, where mostly junior and mid-level staff get between 15 and 20 days, tenure-dependent, and then managers get 20 to 25 days, tenure-dependent. Most other perquisites outside of that seem to be company-specific.

Depending on your level BAH only gives you 21 plus federal holidays.

^ ECAP downed by 4%, Floating Holiday jerked away, and we at self-insured until we basically dole out $2000 in cash.

There was a floating holiday? @ ba4? What? In addition to the others?

2 'floating holiday' days per year (use or lose) went away during the 'work-life balance "rightsizing"' initiative, which basically saved the firm tons of $, and aligned our holiday schedule with the federal government. It wasn't a 'shaft', but shareholders definitwly got the better end of the bargain than employees did.

EY Parental leave question: how many weeks were you actually out? When I took my leave 3 years ago, I counted total of 21 weeks of leave. That’s including one firm winter holiday week. I remember I initially thought I would be back after 16 weeks, but then in the middle of my time off I got an email from Leave Team with the breakdown and it actually was 21 weeks. Can someone who took leave recently tell me the actual number of weeks?

I, a childless woman who does not plan to have kids, am jealous of the parental leave parents get to take from work from choosing to have a child (a big life event). I 100% understand that they are working in a different way by taking care of the baby and being deliriously worn out in the process, but it makes me sort of jealous that unless I have a kid there is no life event that I can take ~3 months away from work to focus on and enjoy, plus have my hours prorated and a job to come back to.
