720 GMAT, undergrad gpa in engineering 3.0 GPA (last 2 years were 3.7 and 3.9 respectively, had a rough intro), followed by a masters in engineering (thesis based), and 3 years at Big 4 advisory. Chance at m7? Strong extracurriculars but worried about undergrad GPA
Has anyone found roles in Big 4 or industry that allowed more work life balance when their kids were young without damaging future career trajectory? I'm a partner with young kids and feel like I'm missing out on too much of their lives. Wishful, but my dream job would have a lighter workload in terms of time and pressure for the next ~5 years, but not set me back too much (or at all) when the kids are older and tired of me in a few years and I'm ready to be back at work full force.
Does anyone have any info on M&A jobs at Google or Facebook? What this pay? And how is it working there as compared to big 4
Is all consulting at b4 (excluding monitor &) very audit-like? I’m losing my mind ensuring there’s a paper trail. Boring PMO taking notes about to go crazy
So grateful I found this group. I feel like I can say I hate accounting and want out and won’t be judged! Any other accountants/B4 out there?
Deciding between staying in consulting at a B4 and accepting a Fed gov job offer. What are some thoughts on which to choose? I have a little one and a teen, for context.
As a senior software developer, if the choice is between a Big 4 company and a product based company(similar payscale), which one should you choose?
If I’m jumping ship within Management Consulting (think Big 4 to T2/MBB), is it odd to make an appreciate/farewell post on LinkedIn for past experiences given it’s essentially hyping up a competitor?
New hire from industry in B4 consulting. Just got absolutely shredded during my first introduction with a manager for not showcasing my skillset well enough during the call. Feel like I made a mistake and already want to leave
I’m anticipating a few offers over the next week or so from B4 and mid tier firms. LCOL, Senior manager in speciality tax. I’ve researched some, but I assume the data is lagging the current labor shortages. Does anyone have any insight on current offers? Base comp and signing bonus. Thanks!
Do B4 recruiters even put in the effort to look at a candidate before reaching out? I have had soo many B4 recruiters reach out to me for hourly/temp work but I’m a cpa at a mid tier firm. Do B4 really look down on mid tier THAT much that they think we would rather leave mid tier for contract work at B4? 🤨
Hey fishes! Looking to chat to a McKinsey fish for a possible referral. Experienced professional here (5 YOE), Manager at a Big 4, US Ivy League undergrad, and interesting extra-curriculars. Please let me know if you are willing to chat :)
Can any experienced associates that left for a diff big 4 firm let me know how the experience was? Was it a huge learning curve? Did you feel lost? Was it similar to how your old firm did it? Curious to what I may be facing
I wanted to seek career advice. I am a CA from India (US CPA equivalent) and just completed CFA level 3 in USA. Have 3 years of experience in big 4 India but have a career gap of 5 years now. Want to get back to working and don’t mind starting as fresher. My ultimate goal is to work in CFA related field - m&a, IB, portfolio management or PE down the line. Just want to get started desperately, which company/ profile should I be targeting??
Thoughts on CMA vs CPA in big 4 tax practice?
Big 4 is about a popularity contest. I have new hires getting better snapshot than me because they kiss ass to SM/ director and Im like I literally am hated here let me leave
I just graduated with a Bachelors degree in Accounting with 136 credits. I’m looking to obtain my CPA and am wondering if the MS programs are worth it if I’m only 14 credits shy of the 150 hours requirement. I’m interning with a Big 4 this summer and feel the pressure to stay another year for my masters. If I don’t do it, will it hurt my chances at getting a full time offer?
I moved from B4 to the industry last year to join a new team. My peer is an internal transfer and our roles are pretty complimentary so we have to work together on many areas. Since she joined the team, she has been stepping on my toes. To be continued in the comments.
Does anyone know whether Deloitte would help to obtain LMIA when your work permit/visa is about to expire? I’m at the junior level and not eligible for any streams yet.
Gf wore flip flops to the place that my friends having his bday. We didn't get in due to dress code. She looks stunning otherwise. I should've caught it before we left our place. She's so angry
Good afternoon all,
I was just curious regarding opinions of recruiter cold calls.
As a legal recruiter, my team and I all came from firms employing the traditional model- hundreds of cold calls daily, essentially seeking success via volume. Our firm found this approach to be preposterous- phoning into someone's workplace, during work hours, interrupting flow and actively trying to convince them to leave their job.
Does anyone find these calls to be largely beneficial? Any insights?
I was charged $80 for an ultrasound at a major Manhattan hospital and $4000 for the same thing a year later at another major Manhattan hospital. I didn’t have to pay anything, thanks to great insurance but curious why such a drastic difference for the same thing? Both hospitals are in-network.
What is a reasonable raise per year? Not sure if there will be a conversation at year end or negotiation. A little over two years experience (1.5 big 4, last 7 months industry). Just not sure what to expect/ask for. Thanks!
Any recs for some good rewards credit cards I can apply for? Looking for a good rewards CC to put majority of spending on.
For ref. I’m an analyst that hasn’t been able to travel much due to COVID.
