Family owned? Saddleback. Sophisticated but not flashy. Dependable, lasts for eternity and impresses without offending.

If it is a family-owned business like that, my recommendations would be off-base (I’m a little flashy—LV/Prada person). But there are a lot of quality handmade leather briefcases out there, like Scully&Scully and other brands. Now if you’re thinking about a trip to Italy, Florence in particular, there are a lot of options for non-branded artisan leather goods that are quite fabulous.
My briefcase, sunglass case, and wallet are all from Scuola del Cuoio at the Basilica di Santa Croce - its a school for aspiring leather artisans in the old church monastery with great designs and incredible leather while supporting a good cause!

Like anything else in life, it depends on what your budget is.
Not looking to spend thousands I guess, but willing to spend for something that is quality and long lasting. Culture of the company is casual and it’s a family owned national brand F&B/franchise operation.
Filson or Saddleback are good options. They’ll last forever, work for casual quite well.
Love my Filson.
Shinola has great leather goods.
Try Frank Clegg. Best bag in the world
Filson is a good choice. Smart, durable, nothing flashy about it.
