Financials vs everything else in a transaction
Depending on the part of the M&A, for example, Advisory does the Valuation, Due Diligence, LOI, Negotiation, and can even help on do a target/buyer screening and prepare the materials for then promotion (in case your client is on the sells side) and contact possible interested parties. I think consulting gets more on the “Strategic” part.
D2 — is that the DTBA group? Or the Transaction services / Deloitte Corp fin team?
I work in FAS but not in Deloitte USA, I don’t know how is that divided but the services are probably like this:
DTBA - Valuation and Modelling
Transaction - Due Dilligence
Corp finance - Info memos, LOI, target screening, getting a buyer, etc.
I’m sure the teams work together then heavily right?
Is FAS broader than just M&A?
Yes, probably, here in my country we work together in some engagements. Sometimes we even have staff from other service lines but because our teams are small. But usually are among those three (corp, transactions, valuation) because there are other service lines inside advisory that are very different, for example forensic, risk and cyber.
The names are different, is all the same, FAS has some services, Advisory has the same but they add Risk. If you go to different web pages of Deloitte of different countries you will notice that some services are arranged differently
Just want to make sure if I switch I won’t get put into internal audit or engagements unrelated to m&a —- which sounds like I won’t right?
What service line are you now and you want to make the change to “Transactions” or “Corporate finance” or is just “Advisory”.
