What large tech company FAANG or similar has decent work life balance?

Anyone switched from big 4 tech consulting to big five banks? Would love to know which role you applied for and how, plus how’s the culture and WLB?

Is WLB in the region really as bad as it's made out to be? Any firms or countries to target that offer better wlb than others?

How important is title to you considering exit opportunities? Currently manager 2 at EY, but I don’t mind apply for senior title in the industry if it’s better pay and work life balance. Thoughts?

Anyone here ever have to take medical leave for burnout/depression? I averaged 250 hrs/month for the first half of the year (including one at 300+) and even though my hours are better now I feel like I never really recovered to a functioning level. I am looking forward to taking two extended vacations between now and year end but there are days I feel like I can’t even do my job for another week or even a day. Just looking for some encouragement that I can recover from this with some time off.

Recently got an offer from ZS Associates as Decision Analytics Consultant in forecasting POD. curious to know what type of projects r there in forecasting POD? can i get GTM kind of projects ? How is the work culture ? I understand WLB might take a serious hit compare to accenture 🤣 but that is okay as long as projects are good with enough client exposureZS Associates

I have been working in special education for 12 years ; 8 years at the high school level and 4 years at the middle school level. I love my kids and what I do but I am seriously burnt out with all of the extra work that we have to do in addition to teaching. I want to be a general education 1st or 2nd grade teacher in hopes of avoiding the mountain of paperwork and the physical labor of assisting large students with daily personal care activities. What are the pros and cons of working in Gen Ed?

I’m rounding out my second year as a litigation associate at a top-tier regional firm in a part of the country where there are no big law offices. My firm has ~90 lawyers, and we’ve lost 6 since December, 5 of which are women.

This mass exodus has me considering a career jump. I have an opportunity to go in-house at a Fortune 500 doing work I think I’d LOVE. Are there any drawbacks to going in-house this early in my career?

My background is in tech transactional. I joined a cybersecurity SaaS startup at the end of last year and now also handle more generalist matters in addition to all things commercial-related. I have a number of books on contracts that I’ve found super helpful over the years (The Tech Contracts Handbook, A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting, Sign Here, etc.). Can anyone recommend books they’ve found helpful for L&E matters, privacy matters, product matters, or marketing/advertising matters?

Is it a sign to not leave yet if I’m hesitant to leave big law despite receiving offers at good companies? I am a junior associate that’s really burned out and yet I fear making the leap because of “missing” people I’ve worked with (who probably won’t remember me much) and all the hopes I had for myself when I first summered. I just put in my two weeks to go to an AM 100 law firm to work in a niche practice area. I've never worked in a firm before. I started of doing compliance (non-attorney role) and then went in-house (acting GC for medium size company got a year). Any advice for someone who never had firm experience? If you went back to a firm what do you think you would have to prepare for? (Besides billiable hours and no life. ) Also, fwiw, I graduate in 2018.

Articling in big law and getting sworn in soon. Got an in house offer at a big company, which pays more than big law and someone says they’re willing to mentor me. Wondering if I should make the jump? How hard would it be to go back to a law firm if I regret it. What i will be doing is very specific but also many other companies and law firms look for that., even though companies seem to outsource it less and less.

I started my first in-house role about 4 months ago and I don’t think it’s the right fit. I love the no billable hours aspect, but otherwise I miss the structure of being at a firm. How long do you think I should try to stick this out before I move on? I want to give the job a real shot - and i know the transition to in-house can be jarring…but I also don’t want to spend too much time in a job that is a wrong fit.
