I’m wearing sneakers these days when I go. But before I’d wear 4 inches.
I feel like it depends on the office. 3” heels and fitted sheath dresses (Banana Republic, J Crew, etc) are pretty standard in my office (DC V10) for the people who do wear heels/dress up. A lot of women wear flats too though. I say wear whatever you want that is still professional, but if you’re unsure or uncomfortable, make a mental note of what the more senior associates and partners who have been at the firm for more time (and have a similar style profile as you) are wearing. That is, don’t start wearing flats every day because a few senior associates are wearing flats and never wear heels. Look to someone more senior who has a similar style/vibe. I wear heels almost every day that I go in because that’s my style and I generally get a ton of compliments on my outfits.
This is great advice! Thank you!
Wow. Heels were the standard when I was in law school. And I’m not a fan of heels.
It’s annoying that we can’t just wear what we find appropriate.
Yeah it is a pain in the ass I can't lie.
There's nothing wrong with it. You're absolutely dressing up professionally. Don't let them get into your head.
Form fitting dresses with blazers is my go-to. I don't think anything is wrong with it. Don't take there looks too personally.
I don't see anything with what you're wearing. If you're only asking these questions to appease them, don't. If we're talking comfortability with regards to the heels then I'd say 2-3 inch heels would work best for everyday wear than my usual 4. Pay them no mind.
