Who didn't see this coming? 🤣🤣
10 years in working my way up restaurants to restaurant director level and I realized I made it to my goal at a young age and was still working 16 hour days, sleeping in my car, missing out on holidays and important family moments, and making less money than I wanted. I always loved the hospitality aspect of working with people, and sales was a natural leap. I still get to work with people, but now I get my life back.
I started out in operations which is usually the opposite of sales. I had the perspective of doing it “the right way”. When I moved to sales, my operations background kept me grounded and allowed me to set proper expectations. It also allowed me to understand which “rules” could be bent and which could be broken. I learned that both sales and operations want to serve the best interests of the customer and the conflict really comes from lack of understanding. I’m now at a point in my career where I can teach as much as I learn so that gap can be bridges somewhat.
Literally any company I've been at their director of sales would say "hey you should work in sales" lol
Physical needs. My body was broke down. I works in the mines and a certain political movement really put a strain on that business and they were closing left and right. I needed something physically easier and non environmental regulation dependent. Came over and never looked back.
