I’d like to preface this post with saying I was in a very toxic relationship previously. I went to therapy, healed myself, and now feel I have found someone very healthy. He self reflects, he listens, he’s present, he makes me feel heard (mostly). With all that said, I can’t stop feeling like he’s only giving me the bare minimum. Alright so I have been with my partner for several years and recently she said that she wants to get married. Im Happy with what we have now and don't feel the need to get married. I've got some friends who work remote jobs, and every day I grow more jealous of them during my one-hour commute.

How do you all take care of things outside of work? The last thing I want to do after being hyper-organized at work is figuring out my budget or retirement plan or scrubbing the bathtub or figuring out what to buy at the grocery or planning a vacation. I feel so burnt out I can only just sleep on weekends and can’t bring myself to go out or even do basic self care. I feel bad putting this all on my husband and how would I even have the energy to raise kids??

Folks with kids - what's your routine for cooking, gym, home chores etc. ? We have a 2.5 year old toddler and we struggle to cook food, drop off our kid in daycare and then cook dinner and find time for working out. I am curious how other working couples organize and manage cooking, home chores gym. I am recently diagnosed with ADHD and curious how others make it work while working full time. Thanks!

I’m dreaming of resigning without another job lined up. I hate the toxic hell hole I call an office. working 60-70 hours a week with young kids makes it hard to look for a new gig too.

The person I’m seeing has been responding to my texts days later (only a recent development) and it’s making me anxious. They have been busy the past two weeks with PhD exams and their last message was them planning when they could see me again (in a really flirty way too), so logically I know the delay is not a sign of disinterest. Looking for some perspective: we just got a brand new $2,000 glass top 78" dining table. I asked my husband to please use a table cloth when he uses that table for d&d with his friends to avoid scratches and the loud dice on the table. He got upset that I "don't let him enjoy our stuff," that I "hate the sound of him having fun," and he says I am being unreasonable. I accidentally overshared information about having anxiety and trouble focusing with someone who is kind of important at the company and now I regret it. She never responded and probably forgot about it but my husband told me that I shouldn’t have done that and I shouldn’t share things like that with people at work unless you are really close with them and now I’m freaking out and crying because I’m scared she will remember that and tell my boss or other higher up people.

Spouse is a state department employee and currently overseas. I’m a manager with three years of experience in consulting and 8 years of experience in the military where I left as a O-3 (GS-12 equivalent). SO wants me to take a non-negotiable family member hire role at the embassy overseas for one year so we can co-locate. Job sounds interesting, but is a non-negotiable GS-6 equivalent. Family life would be great but am I derailing my career permanently? Can I explain this in the future?

Have you ever taken a job you know you will hate because you needed the money right away? I have a family to take care of. I don't want to be plowing through our savings for selfish reasons like my mindframe at work, but I don't want to make our lives worse by being miserable. It's a matter of really ruining some of our financial future if we don't get money soon.

First day of distance learning, both spouse and I spent 3 hours each troubleshooting. Kids got maybe 30 minutes of connected time of the 3 1/2 scheduled hours

Anyone else completely checked out? Not sure how I could start caring about my job and performance reviews again. 😞
