Lead with the attitude of “yes”. There is nothing worse than a producer who always says no. We always come to you with challenges, and we’re looking to partner with you to find a solution. A producer willing to be creative and do the hard work to find alternative production methods, is invaluable!
Builds realistic production timelines, understands what the creatives want to do and helps advocate for it every step of the way, can be scrappy when the client doesn’t have a large budget for something, stays in close communication with their account lead.
Good crafty pls
Every client has their own unique challenges. Talk to the account team and try to understand those challenges ahead of time. If there is a client that is always mandating extra revisions, pad estimates and timelines up front. If the client is notorious for paying late, find vendors that can work under appropriate payment terms so the agency isn’t at risk.
Most of all, try to find solutions, but deal in reality. If a production company says they can meet the timeline, but two hour approvals need to happen - that isn’t realistic, and the job will not be viewed as a success even if the results were successful.
Solutions oriented. Help us, help everyone in the situation.
Don’t cater solely to the Creatives. Understand the desire and the realities and be the balance. My best Producers made magic happen within budget. Sometimes they hid money in the budget to do so which was annoying but as long as it all works out in the end. Just be transparent with your account lead. We’re all on the same team!
