what MBB has the best WLB/culture for the Boston offices?

I work at a large Fortune 50 company. Getting more and more frustrated about endless bureaucracy, constant political power struggles, lack of resources for basic compliance programs, and constantly playing whack-a-mole for issues we should be proactively addressing. Left BigLaw for better work life balance but not finding it. Is that because I’m in BigCorp? Do the same issues prevail in smaller private companies?

Wife and kid are going to be out of town for the next 2 weeks. Instead of wasting time, I’d like to do something productive. What would you do if you have say 3+ hours a day. Maybe self help, wealth creation type books, work out daily, take care of some things around the house.

Has anyone been a reinsurance buyer? What was the day-to-day like? Hows the WLB?

9:00 to 17:00 - Work
17:00 to 19:00 - Helping peers and friends in technical stuff
19:00- 21:00 - Cooking , Gym , fresh-up
21:00- 21:30 - Dinner
21:30 - 23:30 - Learning , reading books & news, searching for home purchase etc…
23:30- 1:30 - calls from SO, family & friends..
Tired af , sleep until 8.30 , repeat 😒

I’m currently a third year in my small firm’s life sciences team. I’m not really stimulated by the work and although they say they have a lot of work, they’re not good at managing workload. I haven’t had much work on my plate even after asking many times for more than six months. I’m ready to move to a larger law firm. Interviewed for S&O role and wanted to share. Recruiter told me to expect problem solving and stakeholder comm, behavioral and case type questions… It ended up being one 25-min interviewee-led case. I was surprised given all that I had read online about RRK and GCA and Googleyness and the pride Google has in its “unbiased”interview process… it felt like any other MBB interview where your case interviewer decides your fate… guess S&O is just like any consulting firm…
