What must one do or see in DC? I’ll have 4 nights and three full days. I’m into whiskey and craft beer but I’m taking suggestions of all variety. Looks like I’ll be in Cardozo/Shaw area.

Walking the monuments at night. Like late late night. Do in the follow order: Lincoln, WW2, MLK, Roosevelt, Jefferson, Washington, back to Lincoln. Borderline spiritual experience when I used to walk/run that path.

List is too long to write out, but I’d recommend Churchkey, Bluejacket, and getting drinks at the top of the Watergate hotel.

And get some damn Amsterdam Falafel and Julia’s empanadas in Adams Morgan.

Love that watergate spot

Get bbq at Federalist Pig. Show up on the early side, especially if it’s the weekend.

Too late to do for this trip, but join the Bar Association of the U.S. Supreme Court and go and watch an oral argument. It's an amazing experience.

For an insane cocktail and experience, go to Quill and ask for a private room (no additional cost). It’s a hell of an experience.

Jazz in the Garden on Friday nights down at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden is great if it is still going on! Free to all and you can buy sangria pitchers and hang out on a picnic blanket

Cool. I didn’t know those existed. Thanks!

Jack Rose is a good (but pricey) whiskey bar in Adam's Morgan. Jumbo Slice (recommended above) is close to Jack Rose.

The Next Whisky Bar at the watergate hotel

Jack Rose in Adam’s Morgan has amazing whiskey selection and good food

Be sure to check out Kracken Axes, barmini, Succotash, and Hotel Monaco. All great places!

One of the WFH perks. I planted my little culinary garden during my lunch hour. I’ve got English and Lemon Thyme, Oregano, French lavender, Basil, and rosemary. Thinking of getting more herbs to plant: Italian parsley, sage, mint, and chives.

I’m in a rut. Ever since I had my daughter 5 months ago I haven’t read anything other than magazine articles. Looking for a fun page Turner to get back into the swing of things. Something in a similar vein as Stephen King, Michael Crichton etc. would be great! Thanks in advance!

My dad is turning 60 in January, and it popped into my head that I could get him a bottle of champagne from the year he was born (1963). But my research shows that Moët & Chandon's Dom Pérignon wasn't produced in 1963.

Can any wine or champagne enthusiasts recommend a good 1963 vintage, or was that an off year for champagnes? And if that's the case, have any other recommendable 1963 vintage wines?

I understand with e-mail especially, it is easy to let the informality of the communication process steer you in the direction of being informal.
