Massage is extremely helpful for tension headaches. If I don’t get rid of tight muscles and tension, my headaches can turn into migraines.
Cold compress on your forehead and eyes and back of the neck. Hot showers work for some people but heat makes it worse for me.
I also use a little aromatherapy nose inhaler sometimes. It’s slightly smaller than a chapstick. The one I use is NeilMed SinuInhaler non medicated aromatherapy inhaler. Small little thing with a blue cap.
Oh, and hydrate like your life depends on it.
Rub vicks on your forehead, bridge of nose, temples, and back of neck. Better than any neurologist prescribed medication and I’ve tried them all
I’ll try this!

If you’re getting tension headaches talk to your doctor about Botox injections at the base of the skull, they can help a lot!
I’m just waiting on insurance approval for Botox as that’s what my neurologist recommended as well. She didn’t mention base of the skull though so I will bring it up!
For migraines I’ve had some coke (soda) and laid down to let it pass. You can try steaming your face to relax yourself.
YMMV but options:
Magnesium supplements
Cold therapy
Aromatherapy - peppermint, lavender, valerian
E-stim on shoulder/neck area
Stretching
Reduce eye and neck strain
Hot showers, steam rooms, sauna do it for me sometimes
Acupuncture
By specialist you mean a neurologist right? If so, ask about emgality or similar medications in addition to the Botox others have suggested. Based on your quantity, that could really help. My wife went from 20 a month down to 3 almost immediately then more like 1 or 2 now.
Obviously everyone's drug interactions are different but emgality basically changed my wife's life. I will recommend it everywhere and she had zero effects other than significantly reduced migraines. Honestly definitely consider your own situation and discuss with the doctor but here's one amazing outcome for you to consider.
And Botox did absolutely nothing for my wife except cost a lot of money. 3 rounds, no changes.
Good luck with your rebound headaches. Those suck.

My wife gets really bad migranes and recently went to monthly shoot, and botox, and nuerteq for on set, has changed her life of 30+ yrs of migranes
Oh I’ve heard of neurteq. I’ll ask my doctor about that because ubrelvy only works about half of the time.
