Rule of thumb is less than 30%.

For the record my 52% is really 52% of our household income since my husband is in grad school with no job. However, since he is an awesome cook and we don't drink much, we are actually able to save $900 per month according to my Bank of America cash inflow/outflow estimator. Before you ask, I'm a senior analyst at 87k paying for insurance for both my husband and I, maxing my ESPP, and 7%to 401k. Take home is just over 2k per pay period, rent is $2150. Who knew it was possible to save money in manhattan?!? (Not I! I definitely expected to be on the break even train) However, I would not be able to save anything if my husband wasn't cooking/cleaning/and helping with all the stuff I would otherwise have to pay someone to do while I'm traveling for work.

I’m being promoted to Manager this November but recent got offer from a fintech. In money term the manager base pay is 5k greater than the new role but i’m negotiating to match the offer with my Manager salary. Should I wait until promoted or move asap? Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
