What offices need FAAS folks? Looking to make the switch and don’t really care where I live.

So I was a municipal attorney for approximately 3 years and I did a lot of contracts, I see a lot of contracts counsel/contracts manager attorney positions. Am I out of my mind for applying to these? I have the general contract negotiation process pretty down, and I'm open to learning more about contract negotiation and such.

HR question. When switching companies and the new company has a 30 day waiting period before health insurance starts, how do y'all handle insurance coverage? Cobra wouldn't be an option as resigning doesn't qualify.

Managers and partners, when did you know this was the path you wanted? I found out recently I made manager this year and most of me is excited, but a small part is worried I’m pigeonholing myself. I like tax and the grind, but busy season gets old and I’m often annoyed by my low pay. I’m very outgoing, love working with clients and live for public accounting tax summers, so I stay. Any insight?

Does anyone here practice tax law as a solo or in a small firm? If so, can you speak to your experience (getting started, how it’s going, etc)? I’m coming to the realization that to have the flexibility I need, I may some day need to start my own solo firm, but I’m not sure how to get to that point.

I currently work in Marketing for a residential construction company. One of my main responsibilities is networking with realtors & lenders (planning events, coordinating office presentations, etc.) in order to network with them so they will bring their clients to our sales team. I’ve realized I can make a lot more money working in insurance as an insurance broker focused on realtors & lenders. I would love to hear the good, the bad, the ugly, of working in insurance + any tips you can share!
